The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The further along this title gets the more beautiful it looks.
I didn't see a DQ Swords thread, so this one can serve as one too. I personally can't wait for this game.

I look forward to Dragon Quest Swords, because it looks hella fun, but what's to say that it'll be at all varied? Right now it just looks like a lot of "stages" of sword swinging, with maybe a story in between those stages. I can't see it having much variety, is all.
Which, of course, is the problem with launch titles on a system like the Wii.

From what I've seen, I think of it as Time Crisis with swords, magic and a party system. You have to defend attacks as well (the A button brings up the shield, I believe) so you have to wait for enemy openings and counterstrikes. Plus, there's a magic system and other screens have shown what are ostensibly other party members battling alongside you.
It's going to be more than slashy-slashy. I mean, I'm sure that'll be a big component of it, but it looks to have some modicum of strategy.
I don't know if it's a day-one buy for me, but I'm a huuuuuuuuge DQ whore and I'm intrigued by the concept and that gorgeous art.
I'm a big gun game fan and a big Dragon Quest fan so this game would seem like an A+ must buy title for me, but I'm still not sold. Combat looks to be awfully slow paced compared to your standard shooter like Time Crisis or House of the Dead.

Based on my experience with Kenshin Dragon Quest and from what I've read I know there is going to be quite a bit more strategy than rail-shooters.
Yes slimes are pretty much one slash kills, but skeleton knights can block with their shields, archers usually hide behind objects and for many enemies you'll have to knock back their fireballs. I gaurantee you'll have to become good at blocking with your shield, the first boss proves that. The special sword techniques, in Kenshin, involved slashing in the right direction in rythm.
The Wii version introduces a whole lot more magic and special abilities and no doubt more strategy and ways of dealing with enemies.

Hopefully it has a more involved storyline that 8 too.
Oh. My sole experience with the franchise is Rocket Slime, where you are a good guy and you can pick up the knight to cut through webs.
Hate to burst your pulsating heart, but those are Dragon Quest Swords for the Wii graphics, not Dual Screen.

The Slime is in her EYES.
For me, Scarlett Johansen.
No complaints.

Japanese kids are exposed to hells of more stuff than American kids. You ever see the cartoons they show them? Blood and death and nudity and stuff.
