Stolen Macbook

Is there any way to track down a stolen Macbook using the Ethernet or Airport ID? My brother's apartment was broken into and he just called me to get the serial number off the box, and I noticed it had some other identifying info on it. He doesn't have any tracking software installed (that I know of). Thanks for any help

Hit up all the local pawnshops with the serial number.

I second the pawnshops idea, but if he does get it back or get a new one (with OSX Lion) then tell him to look into Find my Mac - http://www.tuaw.com/2011/06/08/find-my-mac-kicks-off-with-lion/

There's also a security camera app for a few dollars available for non-Lion customers that will snap a photo every time the laptop is opened. You can have the app automatically upload those pictures to a dropbox account so he could get a picture of whoever is using it, should this happen again.

Good suggestions all around. I'll let him know. I should note he lives in Brooklyn, NY, so it'll probably be near impossible to track down manually, but, worth a shot if he's dedicated, I guess
