Bastion is a new Xbox Live Arcade Game from Supergiant Games. It's 2.5D story driven action game that.. man I don't know, words fail me. It sorta looks like Torchlight but the combat is much more dynamic than that, and while there is a pretty cool variety of weapons and items and abilities it is not at all a loot grind.

But the coolest thing about it (besides the gorgeous gorgeous visuals) is the unique storytelling device this game uses. The Narrator.

But not just any Narrator, this Narrator is your constant companion, he is narrating your journey and your story as you play for the entire game. Responding to your actions on screen, filling in bits of backstory and lore. It's fucking incredible experience and seriously you guys just go try the trial version of Xbox Live and you will get sucked in just like me.

Please tell me I'm not the only one playing this?

Bastion is excellent and the narrator is the best part. I've been spending the last few nights in bed playing this and annoying the piss out of Monica.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of watching the quicklook where he did that challenge. So I spent most of my time just rolling around shooting things and wish I had just let that skill develop on its own if at all without the pointers.

The art in this game is really pretty

try using a different weapon combo, it will force you to change tactics.

the variety of play styles that are viable is pretty extensive

I'm at the end game, finishing off challenges and this game has been fantastic all the way through.

I was half asleep when I went through the demo and I still liked it. It could do without that goddamn annoying narrator, though.

I am totally kidding, the narrator is what makes this game special against the rest of the isometric Diablo-clones out there. That and the simplified, intuitive gameplay.

As much as Giant Bomb have hyped me for the game, I'll probably be waiting for the steam release. This is just the kind of game I'd rather play on my PC.
