Firefox/Vista + WMV Question

For some reason I can't view imbedded WMV files on websites in Firefox. They say I don't have a plugin, can't find a plugin, and the manual plugin link takes me to WMP 11 for Windows XP.

WMV plays fine in IE7 but I don't want to use it. Also, they worked in the same version of Firefox, but in XP.

Edit - I installed IETab which sort of works as a run-around. I guess it's something to do with a lot of people still using ActiveX in their websites. Fuckers.

    I use IEtab as well.
WMV embedded doesn't exactly play nice with Firefox...

VLC comes with its own ActiveX plugin. I haven't tried it, but I'm guessing it should play everything WMV does?

In case the newest official release doesn't work under Vista you can try one of the nightly builds. The previous version turned off Aero when playing, so if the newer plugin does that also switching output to OpenGL should prevent that - hopefully the new video drivers will provide a watchable framerate.
