How are printer toner refill kits?

Has anyone had experience with those ink refill kits? I have a samsung laser printer that's running out of toner, and purchasing the refill thing would be a lot cheaper than buying a new toner cartridge it appears.

So....toner refill kit, yes/no?

If you're just knocking out black-and-white prints it might not be a problem, but I would imagine that if you start screwing around with off-brand color toner you're likely to get some really hideous printouts. Something else to keep in mind is that toner is messy as hell and a bitch to clean up, so if anything goes wrong you'll be kicking yourself for not just spending the extra money.

Try checking out the prices for new toner cartridges at Office Depot and Staples. I've found them to be much less expensive than other vendors.

worked for me, though it does get a bit messy. Got mine at CostCo, was around $20.

Read your warranty. Toner refill kits can void it, and if something goes wrong as a result you're out a printer which is much, much more expensive than a new cartridge.

Office Depot has refill stations you might want to check out.

The printer is like 6 years old, so any warranty would probably be gone by now. I was just planning on buying the kit off of ebay because it seemed to be the cheapest route, but I'll check out office depot sometime this week to see how much they're charging. Hm, since it seemed to have worked for someone though, I'll probably end up refilling it somehow. Guess that's that for this topic, thanks for the replies.

I tend to take my cartridges to a cartridge recycling place, and they either swap it for a refill or refill it for me while I'm there, depending on whether they have a full cartridge ready to go.

I've never used OEM toner and my printer has been working fine for just over ten years now.
