I'm naming my main character Exar'kun and my alt Nomi'sunrider. I'm sure they'll be best of friends.
But, I don't mind a single weekend. It would be great if somehow, if we can't do a weekend, we can pass until the next weekend. I highly doubt it, in which case I really hope they don't select a weekend I can't do. I would be very sad. As others have said, I plan to play my mirror (maybe multiple mirrors).
I also heard a rumor we may be limited to the origin worlds anyway. Notice the word rumor, but it would make some sense. They want us to get a feel for the game and how important the story is, and what other area then the origin worlds, where the story is the heaviest? It would also prevent anyone from really spoiling anything.
Edit: Did I mention Exar'kun will be light side wielding a red lightsaber while adorned in every color armor possible? Nomi'sunrider won't use a lightsaber, she doesn't like them, but will be dark side and wearing all black (when she's not running around naked).
Man, I'm not really opposed to playing for a weekend, but I don't know if I want to download a client that large for two days of play. That's a serious chunk of my monthly data allotment.
Well, we may not have to worry. Based on the comment from David Bass, everyone is assuming they are only bringing online a single server. If you assume a capacity of 20k and that they invite twice that, to ensure the server is saturated, we still would have less than a 3% chance of getting in any given weekend. If you assume people can't be invited a second time, after 4 weeks you'd still only be a little over 10%.
I think most of us won't have to worry about whether or not we want to beta.

I guess on the bright side, you'd have the client pretty much rarin' to go for the head-start/release day. I'm sure there'd still be a hefty dl, but getting it in two medium sized chunks rather than one mega chunk seems preferable to me.

It's worse than that, while you download, you're also actually uploading to other testers, so your data stream is going in both directions, chewing up your allotment like a hog at a trough.
There's nothing to see on the beta weekends that won't be better, with less lag and with an improved UI when the real product launches. I am really okay with playing this game when it releases, whenever that is.

I am doubting this. I can't remember any MMO where the beta client is patched to release. Every game I have played in beta (as far as I can remember) required a pretty substantial download or they outright told you to delete the beta client and start over. It would be cool if they did just do this, but I am doubting it.

You must have a very poor memory, there hasn't been one that you couldn't patch the beta client to live in sometime now. The only reason they tell you to delete your beta installation is because there are rare occasions where a patching system can't recover a file.
I for one can't wait to spend half of my beta weekend crashing, lagging, or being outright unable to play because of how many people are trying to do the same.

probably only one weekend?
I am significantly less excited for beta weekends now.
Good thing I started up STO to keep me busy till this game actually launches.
I thought it was pretty high quality for a fan produced video. I mean, sure it didn't have a ton of new content or anything but its not from Bioware so you can't really blame them.
Personally I enjoyed looking at the Jedi Guardian skill breakdown, they did a good job with it.
The biggest thing I took from that video was the length of the stuns classes have. I don't know what kind of diminishing returns or other mechanics they'll use, but it seemed like the guardian alone could stun/mez something for 10+ seconds, on top of whatever snares are attached to force leap and so on.
ed: also the video's dumb because it's overproduced and doesn't even have any actual pvp footage
Eat it You Nasty Pig. on
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat

Hah, the thing is, it didn't have any new content. I'm not being down on it, I'm just calling it what it was. A video run down of the same handful of skills we've known about and seen in trailers for a good long while. Like I originally said though, congrats on them for actually taking the time to consolidate it and having decent production value. If you haven't been living and breathing on leaked information I can see how it would be nice to watch.
For me though, watching videos from leaked sites showing tooltips of full trees is more informative.
Edit: And yes, no actual pvp footage, and asking for a fan voted winner based on a few skills was pretty funny.

As I understand it, everyone gets a bar of some sort in PvP that fills up by a certain amount everytime you get CC'd. Eventually when the bar is full, you're immune for a bit.
At least, that's how they were describing it a few months back. No clue if that's a feature that was ever actually realized.

Since I can't be one (yet...), at least I can take solace in the fact that I can travel around with a Mon Cal.
Just an FYI fellow guildies, if the Legacy system in fact does allow me to unlock playing a Mon Cal, I'm just telling you now, I'm rushing to cap as something so I can reroll.

Health bars are big enough that I wasn't seeing any stun durations long enough to lock people out.
Which is fan-freaking-tastic.

Stunlocking (though I fully understand and appreciate the skill involved in order to pull off) was always an unfair thing.

Rift had beta weekends. they went from thursday to monday. I'll take that weekend.
Trinket? Everyone keeps calling it a trinket. It's an ability.
companions list, obviously spoilers if you're trying to avoid that shit
Also, a four day weekend beta invite would be pretty awesome right now. It's labor day weekend!
Battlenet ID: MildC#11186 - If I'm in the game, send me an invite at anytime and I'll play.
Yeah, WoW PVP turned the word 'trinket' into a verb.
Also, I am now hooked on the hype for this game. Please make it release now.
To Who's Who (for some reason that makes up a good chunk of my spam). Who's Who of what? Well, who's who of who still isn't in the TOR beta, I guess.
Who's Who is an honor society of sorts, academic.
So far it doesn't seem like any invites have been sent out for this coming weekend. Most people are speculating tomorrow.
Edit: Now, I have to somehow convince my GF who I haven't seen in a week to not want to see me for longer... oi.
holy fuck the bounty hunter ranged tank companion
Gonna make a Bounty Hunter if only to have Blizz.

I guess I was under the impression that, come Sept, they were the same thing.
If not... either way. It's more than I got to play last weekend. /shrug
The September stuff is basically you being a weekend warrior. You only get to test for that weekend.
