I just checked my spam folder. I have had 8 invitations today!
To Who's Who (for some reason that makes up a good chunk of my spam). Who's Who of what? Well, who's who of who still isn't in the TOR beta, I guess.
Who's Who is an honor society of sorts, academic.
So far it doesn't seem like any invites have been sent out for this coming weekend. Most people are speculating tomorrow.
I know what Who's Who is. I just don't know why most of my spam folder is filled with what is clearly illegitimate spam using that label.
I'd expect invites to go out tomorrow, although with the size of the client if the "Weekend" starts on Thursday then Tuesday would be a better day to send them out.
Did you guys get 'real' invites or are those for the beta weekend? Either way, congrats and enjoy your download.
I guess I was under the impression that, come Sept, they were the same thing.
If not... either way. It's more than I got to play last weekend. /shrug
The September stuff is basically you being a weekend warrior. You only get to test for that weekend.
Meh, like I said.... more than I played last weekend. It gives me 3ish days to submit bugs and decide whether I like the cover system or not. Should be plenty of time considering I was always going to play at launch.
I can't wipe the smile off my face from thinking of what that'll be like
Just looking at it, I can see this game is going to obliterate my social life. I didn't even have much of an interest in companions before this, and now i'm stoked to see what they have to offer.
Also, looking at this, I just realized that the Legacy system could very well unlock a shit-ton of races. Including
(Light spoilers for possible races.)
Togrutans, some weird fish monster race that aren't from the trilogy, and more.
It seems that they have functionality for almost every humanoid race in. The exceptions being the weird stuff like Yoda.
Why are you silly geese all getting your space panties in a twist? We've known about Blizz since E3.
Anyway, I'll wait till I've actually played the game before I judge any of the companions..after all, what really matters is their character, their dialogue etc.
For all we know, the freakiest looking companion could be boring as hell.
Do we even know what the Legacy system does yet? So far I've seen a lot of rampant speculation with little to back up the idea we'll all be playing as obscure species.
Also, is it weird to anyone else that some classes get their companions super late? The Consular doesn't get their last companion until you're on the planet with the Eternity Vault while the Knight gets their last one at the conclusion of Hoth. The role distribution is pretty awkward too, the Consular gets three tanks before any DPS companions. Some don't get a healer until the upper forties. I was honestly hoping that the companions would come a lot quicker.

that being said im mad that the trooper's companions are the weakest out of the whole group
Again..all we have right now are pictures and in some cases superficial descriptions of companions.
One of the Trooper companions might be Varric IN SPACE, and then who's weak?
im kind of confused why the JK gets a sith pureblood companion. that seems to be some shoehorning like a motherfucker in there.

Hulkbot would like you to know that he is not pleased by your choice of words.
As to the spoiled comment. Reasoning here:
Watch some of the earlier videos. You can turn him. In fact, in the earlier videos, it's entirely possible to kill Scourge without ever even knowing you could recruit him, apparently. It earns you dark side points.
You can also choose to try to redeem him, and he'll tentatively accept the offer.

It's not really a spoiler to say that the companions aren't just random pets you pick up, but have their own story-based reason for being with you that's related to your character's storyline... so some of the weird combinations are related to the story being told at the time

So, there is this beta.
And I'm in this beta.
And like some others, the Email was resting in the spam folder. Now I'm DLing the client and wondering what to do with myself since I can't play online with the thing sucking my bandwidth.
I guess it shouldn't effect playing Deus Ex.
Edit: Nope. installing the parts are slowing the computer down. ohwell.
It's basically some random bull shit they seemingly made up on the spot at E3, I think it was E3. Point is if it ever happens it won't happen for a significant amount of time after release.
Oh, so Bioware actually believes their NDA will survive these beta weekends. I laughed.
I want everyone to know that there is a beta and I am not in it. I don't even have an NDA, so ask away with any questions you might have. Not that I can answer them.

40 companions, 3 droids. And one of them is creepy as all hell.

2 of which every class gets, depending on your side.
Oh my god. I was about to comment on being able to roll around with fucking Satan as your buddy. But holy shit. Holy shit.
Holy shit.
Also. Holy crap. The Imperial Agent gets a space
And Scorpio looks like a cheesy, overly sexualized robot from a 70's sci-fi novel cover, from what few screenshots i've seen.
Jesus christ. I've only seen the Bounty Hunter and Agent companions, and i'm afraid to look any more for fear of spoiling myself on the awesomeness.
