I hardly ever make serious posts here, let alone threads, and so I really don't expect this to stay on topic or to be taken too seriously. However, I implore all of you at some point to watch this 45 minute documentary at some point. I can not recommend it enough. Educate yourself, watch it, you don't have to post about it or post your views. Just watch it.

"The Real Iraq"

http://www.alternet.org/blogs/video

It's the rawest most unbiased piece on this war I've ever seen.

Heh. Where I live, in our gaming group alone are about 5-6 guys who have been to Iraq, most of them multiple times.

It's interesting to see how each one of the react differently to being over there. Some would do it again, and some call it a giant sandy shit-hole.

But, kinda hard to argue with someone either way, especially when they've been there.

I will gladly go to jail instead of going to Iraq

getting fucked in the butt for a month would be better than that, I'm willing to admit

After already having gone there myself, I can comfortably say that I really have no urge to watch anything that has anything to do with Iraq ever again.

I will say that the galley, as far as cafeteria food goes, was usually pretty good. And some MREs are fan-fucking-tastic.

Jesus, around the 27 minute mark there's some powerful stuff. They play a clip of this reporter, and then show the aftermath in which she was ambushed and she and her crew were killed. Then they show footage from the funeral where they get fucking ambushed again and a lot more people die.

It's also a bit disturbing that they keep playing clips or blurbs from reporters, and then you hear a narrator explain how they were kidnapped and shot, or what have you.

How cool would Iraq be if there were zombies there.

Also... i really hate the bbc. I would buy into this whole deal... and i do... but i really hate how the bbc is saying that america dosnt hear about this stuff, and then they go off showing the death shots. yay, great reporting.

when you come back from a tour of service you are fucking loaded. on top of regular pay, you get hazard pay, its all not taxable, and when youre over there you arent spending any money at all, everything is provided for you, food, shelter etc.

some of my friends have come back with 40-60 grand in their checking account

All I know about Iraq is that our boys are dying over there because GWB wanted to prove some dumb point.

We have Americans dying when they didn't have to.

Oof, pretty brutal helicopter attack at 33 minutes. The journalist talking directly in front of the camera that captured the blast died. :\

KILLING FOR PEACE IS LIKE FUCKING FOR CHASTITY

    Kill, kill, kill for peace
    Kill, kill, kill for peace
Near or middle or very far east
Far or near or very middle east
    Kill, kill, kill for peace
    Kill, kill, kill for peace

If you don't like the people
or the way that they talk
If you don't like their manners
or they way that they walk,
    Kill, kill, kill for peace
    Kill, kill, kill for peace

    If you don't kill them
    then the Chinese will
    If you don't want America
    to play second fiddle,
    Kill, kill, kill for peace
    Kill, kill, kill for peace

    If you let them live
    they might support the Russians
    If you let them live
    they might love the Russians
    Kill, kill, kill for peace
    Kill, kill, kill for peace

(spoken) Kill 'em, kill 'em, strafe those gook creeps!

    The only gook an
    American can trust
    Is a gook that's got
    his yellow head bust.
    Kill, kill, kill for peace
    Kill, kill, kill for peace

    Kill, kill, it'll
    feel so good,
    like my captain
    said it should
    Kill, kill, kill for peace
    Kill, kill, kill for peace

    Kill it will give
    you a mental ease
    kill it will give
    you a big release
    Kill, kill, kill for peace
    Kill, kill, kill for peace
    Kill, kill, kill for peace
    Kill, kill, kill for peace

The only way that killing can bring peace is by killing everyone.

    Not cliche, but wrong.

We're still feeling the aftermath of WWII in some ways.

Killing CAN prevent more killing, but killing alone can never bring about true peace.

@PI: Yes, the official standpoint of Israel is that we should kill all the Gooks. Exactly
