I hardly ever make serious posts here, let alone threads, and so I really don't expect this to stay on topic or to be taken too seriously. However, I implore all of you at some point to watch this 45 minute documentary at some point. I can not recommend it enough. Educate yourself, watch it, you don't have to post about it or post your views. Just watch it.

    Heh. Where I live, in our gaming group alone are about 5-6 guys who have been to Iraq, most of them multiple times.

    It's interesting to see how each one of the react differently to being over there. Some would do it again, and some call it a giant sandy shit-hole.

    But, kinda hard to argue with someone either way, especially when they've been there.

    I will say that the galley, as far as cafeteria food goes, was usually pretty good. And some MREs are fan-fucking-tastic.

    Jesus, around the 27 minute mark there's some powerful stuff. They play a clip of this reporter, and then show the aftermath in which she was ambushed and she and her crew were killed. Then they show footage from the funeral where they get fucking ambushed again and a lot more people die.

    It's also a bit disturbing that they keep playing clips or blurbs from reporters, and then you hear a narrator explain how they were kidnapped and shot, or what have you.

    Also... i really hate the bbc. I would buy into this whole deal... and i do... but i really hate how the bbc is saying that america dosnt hear about this stuff, and then they go off showing the death shots. yay, great reporting.

    when you come back from a tour of service you are fucking loaded. on top of regular pay, you get hazard pay, its all not taxable, and when youre over there you arent spending any money at all, everything is provided for you, food, shelter etc.

    some of my friends have come back with 40-60 grand in their checking account

    We're still feeling the aftermath of WWII in some ways.
