It's kind of lame seeing the same sequence of events every other issue, but is there a better way to give the reader a quick tour of the 52?
Try the one shots coming out.
The Wildstorm one was entertaining, and seeing as I have little knowledge of the Wildstorm Universe, I figure someone who really likes it may enjoy the book more.
I'd love to see a Crime Syndicate/Crime Society fight or team-up. Wouldn't be surprised if they already have some homage-covers in the works from the old pre-first-Crisis-JLA-meets-JSA issues.
I just find it hard to believe on the basis of heroes, especially most of DCs, never, ever using lethal force, and the one time one of them messes up it's against another one.

I find it hard to believe that Black Canary had to resort to using an arrow on Ollie.
Considering, you know, that she can kick his ass 12 ways to Sunday.

especially since dinah can take ollie easily, as shown in her mini-series
not, "fuck let me stop him and figure out why the fuck he's trying to kill me"
I want to say it's a shapeshifter and the Injustice League just wanted to kidnap the real Ollie, but what sense does it make to replace an influential hero and immediately have him flip out and get killed, essentially nullifying the advantage of having an inside agent among the superheroes? I hope not, just because I'm so sick of the Everyman/Clayface/Decoy Octopus reveals, but I can't see DC offing Ollie just a few scant years after he came back to prominence. Just because Winick rode him into the ground and destroyed the book's sales doesn't mean the character should have been killed off.
I think it's kind of funny that few people on the various comic forums I frequent seems especially perturbed by Ollie's death though. I think Booster Gold got a bigger reaction when he bought it in 52. I think people are just getting sort of ho-hum about characters dying nowadays. But I could be projecting my bias a bit.

Nooo...you?
People are ho hum because, aside from a select few, none of these things are permanent.
They've gone to the well one too many times. Even if he stays dead, alot of people are just not caring enough to continue reading certain series because the big gimmick is kill all the heroes. It's pretty bad when comic con fans are getting up and telling DiDio to his face that this is his only gimmick these days. They don't even do a good job in the storytelling department when they do it, as shown by all the plot holes you've all pointed out already. I mean, did anyone see an opening for that mind control to take place, and I the only one that thinks they were both mind controlled, which is why she killed him?
EDIT You know, at the comic con in question when people were calling DiDio a one trick pony, he even said "A weddding and 4 funerals in 2007" and I lost track of how many people it was. Question, Flash......Jade?....and I figured they'd pull that crap with the last death either just before or after the wedding. So if he was counting Jade (or maybe some of the notable Green Lanterns?) then that means everyone else is safe till 2008?
the 4 funerals were Bart Allen, Duela Dent, Ollie and um... someone else... But those were three of them. He doesn't directly state Ollie, but douchebags it by saying "One is coming later this year, kinda like when the wedding is lawls." In so many words. I don't remember the 4th death, though.
P.S. This was around when Bart died, so the 3 were before that.
Jokester monthly written by Paul Dini 08'? Anyone?
Yeah, I'd love it too.
Jokester by McKeever you mean. =p
I actually enjoyed an issue of Countdown this week. I think it's the end of the world. It still had its minor flaws, but nothing really made me hate it this week like every other week. Probably a combination of McKeever and the Crime Syndicate appearing in it.
Countdown to Adventure was pretty decent too. Im enjoying the Forerunner story and the 52 trio of Animal Man and co is doing pretty good considering its by Beechan.
Keith Champagne has a new interview over at Newsarama. It sounds a bit better than I expected but what the fuck is up with this part:
NRAMA: Are these battles supposed to be to the death?
KC: The battles are fought until only one version of each character is still standing. At times, this leads to death. Other times, it leads to victory. Monarch has left the whole death issue in the hands of the combatants as a way to test their morals and their resolve.
So DC are completely fine with fucking up their multiverse? Take the Batman fight for example, if Gotham by Gaslight Batman is killed then what the fuck is the point of having a Gotham by Gaslight universe anymore?

yes that makes sense
seriously, that wasn't even a lethal blow
Considering, you know, that she can kick his ass 12 ways to Sunday.
Does that even make sense?
Well, she can kick his ass hard.

I'll either stick with this or correct it after reading the one shot.
