Hey guys, I need a little help.

My dad was walking down a stairwell in a store, when he felt a bite or sting near the top part of the back of his left leg. He didn't see what bit him, but there was a bump where it had that lasted a few hours. 2 days later, and now there seems to be 2 red marks, and in each mark, 3 little puncture marks?

What the hell was this? He was wearing long pants at the time. Anything to get worried about? We live in Ontario Canada if that helps. Here is a pic.

Thanks a lot guys.

This is probably a better question for a doctor than the interwebs...I've gotten similar reactions to some bug bites, which I just chalked up to being minor allergic reactions. There are lots of bugs that could've bitten or stung him, and not many leave a unique, identifying mark. I personally don't recognize this, if it is a unique reaction. I am no bugbite expert, though.

[insert standard "I am not a doctor" disclaimer here]...but I would assume that unless this is accompanied by other symptoms, or symptoms that last for a long time, it's probably nothing very serious.

Does your father have any allergic reactions to insects? I wouldn't worry about it unless it gets infected or the swelling becomes bigger.

    It was probably a spider.

unless my eyes are totally off those bite marks are too far apart to have come from an insect.

Yeah, that's (at least) two bites, or a rash or something. Unless it starts to hurt, burn or increase in size I wouldn't stress about it.

Note: haven't even watched a doctor on tv even a year.

If it's been two days, and there's no swelling, pain, rash, or discoloration of the wound (mostly turning purple or bruised), it's not a problem. I'd watch out for a fever or changes in mental status, but he's probably fine. If it itches, get some hydrocortisone cream (or other similar over the counter steroid cream).

Was it painful at a single point (like a bite)? To me it just looks like a dermatitis rash of some sort that was worsened (Scabbed?) by itching.

not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me

Totally not a doctor, but that looks like a chigger bite mark. Pretty harmless/common.

Edit: Google search that at your own risk. There are some gross pictures on the internets.
