Moe, we've gotten them every other year here in the regular mail. The USPS still does consider us part of the United States :P
Also.. we ARE in the continental US. We're still on the same continent :P
(Sorry... the whole treatment of Alaska as regards shipping is a hot button for me. We have FedEx and UPS HUBS here, and flat rate is flat rate ANYWHERE in the US from USPS, ffs)

Right, but does Reed/PA? They used to mail to Canada too, until they had issues with them not getting there on time. If there were increased issues last year, they may have decided to restrict mailings to the continental US. Given that today is 8/19, the official day that people have been told to wait until before freaking out about passes, and that nobody in Alaska in this thread appears to have gotten their passes, I think contacting pax_questions@paxsite.com may be in the best interests for you guys.
Are you guys sure that passes are mailed to Alaska. I thought they were only mailed within the continental US. One of you might want to shoot an e-mail to pax_questions@paxsite.com for clarification, and post the answer here.
This is my third year going to PAX and I had no issues getting my pass the last two years. Something odd is going on this year.
EDIT: I sent an email to pax_questions about this issue, and I suggest all the other Alaskans do so as well. It's not something I'm particularly worried about though. What are they going to do, tell us they will not give us a pass just because the one they shipped got lost or whatever? That'd never happen.
Wow I'm glad I'm not the only one....strange that we didn't get them in the mail yet. If they don't come in by Saturday I suppose at least I'll have some shoulders to cry on at Humpy's.
I received a response to my inquiry and like I thought, we have absolutely nothing to worry about:
subject FW: Alaska is badgeless!
Hi
If you still don't have your badges by the time you leave for the show please bring a copy of your confirmation along with a photo I.D. to the registration desk and we will help you there.
I can't for the life of me figure out why they waited so long before shipping out the passes this year. I usually get mine several weeks before the event (and that's with me being in Alaska) whereas they say on the website that they didn't even expect anyone's to show up this year until the week before the event.. that's cutting it TOO close.
Hopefully they'll ship out the passes earlier next year, because this was a pretty bad fumble, especially after having done it correctly so many times in the past. At least I can take solace that they'll be aware this is an issue, what with it seeming EVERY Alaskan is without their badges.
Hey Scottsman, how many PAXs have you been to in the past? This is our third year, and yeah.. Both previous years we got our passes end of July, early August.

I've been to every PAX Prime except the first one and the sixth one. Never been to PAX East though.
During PAX, I'll make sure to do some tweets under the hashtag #PAXAK. So just hit this link, and you'll probably see what we're doing. Should make it easier if we want to meetup during the show: http://twitter.com/#!/search/realtime/PAXAK
I live in Juneau, AK and I have not received any of the four passes that I registered for. I called Reed Expo (based on out of office email from Cathy Glickstein) and the person that answered said she thought they did not mail passes to Alaska. This is my 4th PAX and I received it in the mail every year. It would have been nice if we were alerted that they are changing the mailing options before hand...
Anybody else from Alaska received their passes in the mail?
I have not, but given that they have successfully mailed them out every year prior to this, I'm not sure why they would have changed it, and further why they wouldn't inform us of such a change. I've gone to five of the last seven paxes and each time they have mailed me the badges.
I tried to get a clear answer from her whether or not it was mailed to Alaska so that I don't waste my efforts in checking my mail 3x a day. It is frustrating and annoying. She said she can't officially say that it was not mailed to Alaska but she is under the impression that they did not mail it to Alaska.

I'm in Seattle now no badges before we left. So I will be going by Thursday to get ours.
Had a great time at the meet up. I hope we all get to see eachother down here at PAX.
So for our first Seattle adventure we went to Kard Kingdom and Cafe Mox. We are walking around and looking like staried eyed little kids. THis guy goes are you here for the meetup. Twana was like sure. (Twana has been exceptaionly friendly since we have been in Seattle. It's nice being the quite one.) So we sit down in the BAR and Curtis goes and gets a game for the store and we sit down and play a game with complete strangers. After we are done Twana convinces them to play robo Rally. First I wish we had a place like this in achorage. Beer, Wine, games you can borrow and bartenders and game staff that want to help you play the games you borrowed. What a first great day.
On a side note my Wife got all talky witht he hiertz lady and we got a free car up grade. Its wierd being the quite one for the day. I like it maybe I'll have to try it more often.
Being that I still haven't received the my badges in the mail, I'm guessing they were never mailed to Alaska at all. I don't mind so much, since they were a cinch to pick up at the will call Thursday night but I wish they would have just told us in the first place.
