I've been having a recurring problem where one of my usb devices (most of the time it's my webcam) will get randomly disconnected and immediately reconnected (i can hear the ba-dum sounds). I've checked to make sure the connection isn't loose, I've switched to a different port, I've turned off the power management options that turn usb hubs off, but a) nothing shows up in the event viewer and b) I sometimes go for weeks before having the issue pop up again several times over the course of a day. This gets to be really annoying because I have to restart voice/video chat programs to get my webcam working again. Some times it's not my webcam but my wireless internet adapter.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm running windows 7 with an ASUS P5Q Pro motherboard with 4 gigs of RAM and a 500W power supply.
I get this as well sometimes...usually with my mouse. I too am running Windows 7. I'm not sure of my motherboard but I believe I have a pretty beefy PSU. My computer is about 3 years old though.
Had a similar problem with my new PSP. Bought a data cable from Gamestop for like 8 dollars because it also had a charger. Just seemed more convenient. Well I pulled out the PS3 controller cable and it stopped happening. So it's likely the cable.
