man
the fact that the score is 2-2 does not accurately reflect the way this match has gone down
incontrol got FLATTENED in both of the proper games they played and only barely edged out wins in two games where he opened with a cheese.

Well almost every caster and pro player is saying that in long macro games against a competent macro zerg, protoss are in serious trouble right now, so the current metagame does seem to be all-ins or 2base timings in PvZ.
Exceptions for games like IdrA vs. HuK with terrible unit control.

What I find funny is how now people are saying iNcontroL's wins don't count, but so many of the same people were rooting for MKP during GSL season 2 where all he did game after game was all-in.

Almost every caster/player? I doubt that. Can you list some names?

IdrA wins most of his games by just doing ridiculously drawn out macro
I am not sure that one gimmick is inherently better than the other?
Iunno. I also really like iNcontroL so I may be bias.
in fact, all three players in this comparison are guilty of playing gimmicky styles, so it just breaks down to pure bias and you shouldn't really feel bad. as lame as that last game was, you can't blame incontrol for taking advantage of destiny's reliance on spines in the early game.

Off the top of my head:
iNcontroL, Tyler, Artosis, Tasteless, Day[9], HuK, these caster guys, and the word on the street is it's the general opinion. Apparently also the win stats for Protoss in PvZ are low? I haven't seen them, so I can't speak to that.
I'm super sad I haven't been able to hang out much here - the computers at work have an old version of IE so they freeze every time I try to log on to the forums and that's where I usually am when I log onto the forums here...ah, well.
Anyways: I was thinking about PvP and about what Day 9 said about sometimes the mistake in a build is not committing hard enough to the build. A while back, Protoss were working in VRs into their Colossus mixes in PvP, but it never seemed strong enough to justify in of itself. I don't feel that I'm at a high enough level to give it an honest test, but since the mild 4 gate nerf, there are a number of ways to hold off 4 gates that just were not viable before.
So, what about a mid-game Carrier play vs. the Colossus or Zealot/Archon style? Carriers are pretty resource intensive, but so are Colossus. So, instead of racing against your opponent to get your Colossus count up, what if you did a blink stalker or phoenix opening and then rushed to get Carriers with some gateway support? What do you guys think could be some potential hic-ups to watch out for in developing a style like that? Has anyone tried that kind of build and did it work well/not so well? Crowd-source theorycraft, go!

This is not snark I swear:
I wasn't paying attention to the beginning of this game. I came in when he was beating the shit out of Destiny's base. Did he cheese again or 6gate or what?

see, you can't even blame incontrol for this shit. destiny himself says he doesn't think his style is conventionally beatable unit comp to unit comp past the early game, so just kill him before he gets the infestor ball.
holy shit, this one caster guy is like if my hate train achieved sentience.
...I'd love to hear what IdrA (the old one that was BM, awesome, and good at sc2) would say to iNcontroL if they weren't teammates/buddies. Hilarity would ensue.

That may be so, but it doesn't mean that won't change in the future. Not too long ago the consensus was that Zerg was having trouble with Protoss in macro mode so we'll just see if someone can come up with something which changes the game again. Protoss still has a number of units we're not using a lot - maybe they're not the answer vs. infestor, but you never know... I have been having trouble with infestor zergs lately, mass NP really sucks when you're relying on a small number of heavy hitting units to deal most of your DPS. (important to add here, because ppl watching the IPL have been pissing me off with their "this is OP"/"this is UP" talk, that I don't think it's imba - Protoss just haven't figured out a lot of good answers to certain Zerg builds yet... obviously Mana and White-Ra making it to the final three in IPL means it isn't totally one-sided)
someone help me understand why these casters are criticizing incontrol's standard wall off. I don't understand, and I naturally fear and loathe that which I do not understand.
I thought Destiny was confident with holding 6gates, pretty surprised he lost that.
Maybe it was uncharacteristically zealot heavy and that barely tipped the scales?
I think the difference between winning and losing that fight was not getting the fungal off before the zealots got in range of the spine crawlers.

a small number of heavy units dealing 90% of the DPS of your army is sort of the "thing" that Protoss has. Something that is perfectly exploited at all stages of the mid and lategame by Infestors.

getting things done.
Well, I didn't necessarily say cheesy, I should have said all-iny.

Speaking of EG players, how did you do in the WCG qualifiers? Did you end up playing Axslav?

oh I guess some people
Yes, played Axslav.
You might call the series "one-sided".

Yes but he cheeses a lot and loses a lot.
It's a double-threat.

eh
I understand, but I don't care
mwahahahahaha 6 gate to DTs to starport
I hope he wins man. wow.
