A lot of you are probably familiar with their work, but how many of you are actually familiar with a company called Blur Studios?

Who are they, you ask? Well, they're an independent 3d animation studio responsible for some of the best goddamn game cinematics and shorts you've ever loved.

Such as:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94-4c0eJikk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9L-B_EC79g

they're also responsible for this, one of my favorite fucking pieces of animation I've seen in a long, long time

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zr_Ta6NS3-g

Seriously, these are the guys who are behind some of the best game cinematics in history, and they so rarely get the credit they deserve. So let's give them some appreciation, or just post other cinematics from other studios and talk about how rad they are.

That Hugo Strange trailer just about made me shit when I saw it the first time. Didn't these guys do the launch trailer for mass effect 2?

    They're awesome.

from what I understand, they put that together to shop it around to big studios to get funding to do the full film. I don't know if anything more ever came about from it. They're an amazing studio for doing two minute shorts, but doing a 90 minute feature is a whole other ballpark in terms of funding and logistics that they don't have the track record for, so I don't know if anyone was willing to back them for it. I hope they did find someone though, because god damn I want it I want it I want it

Didn't they do the first Dawn of War intro as well?

It's the only game intro I never skipped.

    Edit: Yes!

I love the Warrior Priests feeble arm raising at that last frame of that last second. Such awesome attention to detail.

Of course, Warhammer was such a huge debut that it got two cinematic. Gotta love the squig! That and the little embers from the marauder's claw.

Start with Dawn of War. You can pick it up cheap on steam and it is pretty easy to pick up and play. Plus the actual campaigns (in the early games) were actually pretty good so you can enjoy some Player vs CPU action.

Mark of Chaos was a pity.
The game was sort of fun, but also a bit shitty. And it was a nightmare to be able to connect to play a game on release.
I'll clarify I meant for multiplayer a bit shitty. I never felt like I had an incentive to actually move out and make something happen vs my opponent in an open field battle.

I've known Blur was super awesome for a while now, but seeing this reel and seeing that they made just about every cinematic that I have loved for the last couple years is just so hilarious. Like, going through that reel, you're just all "I remember that one! It was so fucking good! And that one! And that one. And that one..."

But it's a double edged sword because they're the bastards that made Brink look like the best thing since digitally sliced bread.

Rank, if you could somehow get the funding for them to do a full length feature, who would you line up to be the movie's director and writers?

I was so hype for it. The trailers all looked so fucking amazing.

But then the game dropped and the netcode is ass, which meant the entire game was ass since there's not an actual single player.
