Car - What is this bit called?

A while ago, whilst leaving my exs, the electric gates malfunctioned slammed on the side of my car whilst it was moving forward. Fortunately it caught the "runner" on the side and pulled it off.

I picked up all the bits I could, the runner is still intact, no scratches and the car only had one mild scratch which was easily fixed. It's in the red box on the pic below, with the arrow pointing to it.

(Sorry for the tiny picture, only have mspaint at work and it seems to have wanted to shrink it down to unviewable, Red on Red likely WASN'T the best of ideas either, but it's done now!)

That is no longer attached to the side of the car. Firstly, I'm not technically minded, does anyone know exactly what it's called? And secondly does anyone know where I can get the bits to pop it back on?

Sorry for the vague, non technical thread!

Well, I can't for the life of me figure out what to call them, but I have those same types of things on my little Escort. I do believe they're held on with a sort of glue, you might try finding a repair manual for your car and seeing what it says. Or look up your make and model online, you might find something here: http://www.jcwhitney.com/

EDIT: Body Molding! That's what it's called! :) Or maybe just trim.

Aha! Cheers! On the peugeot 106 I've got they're held on by small white clips. They look a bit like the below awful ascii art:

    (a)
    ...|...
    \__/ (b)

The top flat bit (a) slots in to the body moulding/trims and the bit at the bottom (b) pushes in to a hole in the side of the door panel (it's rounded at the bottom to ease pushing it through the hole, then it's impossible to pull back out). Unfortunately all but one of these has snapped and I have no idea where to get them!

(Ignore the full stops in the ascii, it didn't space properly!)

Ah, those are simple then! Just take one with you to your nearest auto store (Checkers, AutoZone, whatever ya got) and they should have some that are similar, but black in color. Normally they're used to replace the inside trim parts when you rip them off the panels changing things, but they should have some similar to what you need.

If all else fails, shop around online for em, I'm sure plenty of people have broken those in the past. Good luck :)

My car is actually in the garage at the moment and I didn't even think about this. I'll just ask them whilst they're there if they've got anything to put the trim back on!

    Cheers!
