What can you do with a stolen drivers liscence?

Before you ask, no I'm not looking for recommendations for fun stuff to do with one.

I got my wallet pickpocketed, nothing much was in it and I've already cancelled my credit card but should I be in a hurry to do anything about my drivers liscence? I'll need a new one sooner or later (later really, I dont even drive I just use it for ID) but in the meantime should I be worried about anyone doing anything nefarious with it?

Not really. I guess you could seperate the laminate and use it to make a FAKE one.

However the person now has your full name, DOB, Address, et cetera.

Call up the DMV or your local equivalent and let them know. Probably nothing but it wouldn't hurt to make sure.

Which part did you lose? The photocard, the counterpart, or both?

I think you're supposed to have both parts for it to be considered valid ID for the purposes of things like opening bank accounts or getting credit cards. I really doubt anyone would be able to change the photo, since it's printed directly on the card once normally, and a second time at half size and partially transparent.

You could phone the DVLA and ask if there's anything you need to do about it,

I'm pretty sure you're supposed to tell them immediately. You can probably print the form off their site and post it to them, else you'll need to head off to a post office.

It's probably an offence not to inform them lol...

You should go down to a DMV branch to report it and they'll probably give you a temporary license until a new license can be issued. They may or may not take a new picture for the Photo ID.

You're worried about what they could do that could harm you? Well if they do something that causes their license to be read (police involvement) and run, you could end up with all sorts of fun things on there. And by fun I mean a real pain.

However, they can only affect your license. Call the DMV to get it sorted out.

If your state is one of those ones that puts the SSN on there, put a fraud alert on your credit report

you could go to their website and see what you should do. I'm sure they have a section about lost Driver's License. Do a google search for your state. The department name varies state to state.

Like for me, I'm in Arkansas so I typed "Arkansas motor vehicle" into google and the first page was the arkansas office of motor vehicle, which had a link to to all sorts of crap with info and phone numbers. it was a subpage to arkansas.gov under the DFA (department of finance and admin).

or just call your local DMV (may not be called DMV, mine isn't)
