Second playthrough, complete. So I've done a mostly paragon Sentinel, a kind of paragon Vanguard. Thinking of doing a renegade run next, considering an Adept. Are they good times? Any other fun class suggestions?

Wow at playing ME1 for the first time then looking at those screens in the OP for ME3.
Talk about a difference. As for this game, reminds me a LOT of KotOR. Except the universe is much, much, larger here. I have no clue where to go or what to do.
Also, Wrex is awesome.

Got the DLC?
Bring Down The Sky is good. Pinnacle Station is not.

Nope, I just bought ME1 during the Steam Sale. (Probably should've bought both as an afterthought, but I'm sure it'll go on sale again.)

I played infiltrator in ME1 and didn't like it very much. I'm not a big fan of sniping in these kinds of games. I could play shotty infiltrator, but having done a shotty vanguard, I'm not sure about that either. Did the infiltrator change a lot from ME1 to 2?

Wasn't Lair of the Shadow Broker ME1 DLC?
Bring Down The Sky is free with PC purchase, although downloading it is a pain. I managed it, but I can't quite remember how.

In ME2, sniping is easier. Also, Infiltrators slow down time when they snipe.
And when they light dudes on fire.
Also, you can turn invisible to slip behind dudes and explode their heads in one shot.
Shotty infiltrator is surprisingly good. Cloak + Shotgun isn't nearly as universally effective as charge, but that's what your other powers are for. I maintain that Soldier is actually a better sniper than Infiltrator, plus you get the Revenant. But no powers.

Soldier is unequivocally better in raw power than all the other classes. It's seriously ez-mode.
Well when you guys put it like that, infiltrator sounds pretty enjoyable. Maybe I'll give it a shot. Probably won't go soldier if it's that easy, as my last run (Sentinel, hardcore difficulty, Zaeed and Kasumi) was laughably easy. Probably going to bump it up to insanity for this run. How big is the jump from hardcore to insanity?
Infiltrator is my main Shep's class, and it's the most fun I've had besides Vanguard. Vanguard is so different from the other classes that you can't really compare/contrast it like the others. Adept is probably my favorite after that (on normal anyway) because biotic god, etc. Then Sentinel. I'll be honest I haven't done an Engineer yet but even they would rank above Soldier, probably. Not that Soldier is bad, just that it doesn't bring anything different to the table than most third-person shooters.
First off, make sure you don't go shotgun infiltrator, because when you get to the weapon selection choice, choosing shotgun is like committing a war crime, especially since you haven't played soldier or infiltrator before and thus have never tasted the might of the Widow. Second, do Tali's recruitment as soon as you can in the second wave and grab the Tempest. You'll probably already have the amazin' assassinatin' Locust from Kasumi, which is an excellent SMG, but if you wish to alternate sniping with close range cloaked attacks, the Tempest is the lord godking of SMGs.
Lair is ME2, like Orca said. I think this place still works to get the awesome free ME1 DLC (the paid DLC, Pinnacle Station, is not even remotely worth it, and it's only other DLC for the first game).
I agree that you should always go Widow your first time (that's even what I picked on Soldier, before I played Infiltrator), but shotgun infiltrator must be tasted. Its sheer versatility rivals the Sentinel.

I found the Infiltrator really boring. The AI has no idea what to do, so it's piss-easy, and zooming in every time you throw an Incinerate is always annoying.
First in war. First in peace. First to need to reload after getting stuck in level geometry.
"Oh...it's three guys clustered together...So, I'm going to charge the one all the way in the back. Shotgun him. Melee the next guy. Shotgun him. Have Miranda blow the last guy's shields. Shotgun him. Okay...time to get to work."
*Activate charge*
*Have charge fail, leaving me right in the field of view of the three guys I was going to kill because platform I was on was at a 25* angle*
Playing an Infiltrator with Kasumi and Tali in your group is great, because no enemy can make use of cover. Either the drone blasts them out of it, or Kasumi blinks and stabs them in the back. Leaves me with plenty of easy sniping targets.

I'm actually bummed that my main Shepard is an Infiltrator, because that meant I'd beaten pretty much everything by the time her DLC came out. All I could do was take her on the DLC things that came out afterwards. But we were totally invisible ghost murderer buddies for all of that DLC.
So, playing ME2 for the first time, and this has probably been asked a million times before, but I've avoided this thread for fear of spoilers, so;
What DLC should I buy? When should I buy it? Where does it fit into the story when I do buy it? Right now I've recruited Mordin, Jack, and Garrus, and I'm currently doing the Krogan mission. Thoughts?
Lair of the Shadow Broker without question. It can be played at any point, its more or less the same no matter what (with a few bits of dialogue different depending).

Which is why it isn't as fun as, say, Vangod. 8-)

So now I'm wondering what Infiltrator's will be...maybe it will be the necksnap as taught to Shepard by Thane.

That was engineer.
Go Adept!
And by straddle the gap I mean get stuck in geometry.
Vanguards just, like always, lead the pack.

Oh my God...you guys...Am I...Am I Vanguarding wrong? Oh no, what have I done?!

Maybe.
What do you do when you see an enemy?
1) Charge it
2) CHARGE IT!
Or
3) Something else. Like a sissy.
(I charged everything that could be charged on Vanguard insanity. Often, this lead to difficulty, by which I mean death and glitches.)
Why I fear the ocean.
