The only thing with GMG is sometimes they run out of keys and you might have to wait a day or two for them; that happened to me last week with Darksiders (1).
But other than that, yeah GMG is safe; for their Steam stuff anyway.
I am frightened by Swedish things apparently. I should have read into that site further. Its says my only payment options are PayPal credit cards and some type of coins website. I don't use either.

After dealing with the aneurysm-causing clusterfuck that is downloading a game through Capsule, the only games I will ever buy from GMG are Steamworks games.

If anyone's interested in Civ V, there's a pack that has Civ V plus Civ 4 and all its expansions for $12. They are giving you a $3 discount to take Civ 4. I don't even.

What the..
Well I've been looking at replacing my Civ 4 discs that don't work anymore for a while now. Looks like I'llget an extra copy of civ 5 too.
Edit: The Amazon Download of Civ 4 doesn't patch from inside the game correctly (Amazon version is 3.17 - current is 3.19). You need to search and download it manually and patch the game (but that works just fine.)
is this a good price? i've been meaning to buy BF3 PC
It's gone as low as $30.
But... be prepared to drop another 50 bucks on the "premium" package; includes all released DLC so far and all future DLC this year (3 more announced packs, 2 already released) plus no assignments, dog tags, and other special features. Well worth it.
Late to the party on Syndicate - actually picked it up a month ago, like $20 on Amazon - but for those who might find issue with bloom and other lighting headaches, there's a console toggle to help out. Before/after screenshots under the spoiler for comparison:
Ctrl + Alt + ~ brings up the console, "xr_ppdebugflags 1024" disables postprocessing, which causes most of the glare issues. This actually happens normally in-game while you're sprinting (motion blur usually masks the effect), but disabling PP makes nearby light sources a lot less blinding to stand next to. It's imperfect, mind. Some outside areas during daytime will look darker than they probably should, so feel free to test it; "xr_ppdebugflags 0" turns it back on if desired. Still, I found it made a world of difference in some sections, especially the Aspari district and Downzone.
Double-spoiling this one for extreme brightness:
A shame the game didn't do well, I fell in love with the gunplay almost immediately. You could do a lot worse for <$20.
Apparently it's less of an issue on consoles and in co-op. Still, the mind boggles how that got past testing. You just cannot get too close to certain light sources if you value your eyes.
Kills me is the level design is pretty good most of the time. It's linear of course, with only the occasional open battleground to screw around in, but the game does a good job of mixing up the scenery, giving distinctions to levels even in the same region. A little more time in the oven and this could've been something really special. Hell, I gather the co-op already is, it just was doomed to die young for various reasons.

The light bloom is pretty bad on consoles too. Sometimes you can't even see the dudes shooting at you.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
Ok, Syndicate, $15. Visually it looks really good, very Deus-ex-y. That alone has me really interested. But I seem to recall it got pretty middling reviews.
Is there something odd about the gameplay to warrant that, or were they just because the gameplay was pretty meh? Because I can put up with some meh gameplay for a game that looks that pretty.
Does it have RPG elements like deus ex, or is more a bit more complex halflife2-ish shooter?

I see it's EA, so Origin?
I would say that Syndicate is a very RPG-lite Deus Ex. I did have a lot more fun playing Syndicate over Deus Ex:HR. The shooting and controls are perfectly fine IMO. Also, you can hack enemy grenades mid-flight and also the chips in their heads to make them commit suicide. Reasons enough to play the game, I think. I bought it for $40 and did not regret it.

Syndicate is great. The shooting is super satisfying and the powers are all fun to use. There are some mild RPG elements in that you get to choose some basic upgrades, but it's not really like Deus Ex's upgrades.
Syndicate is good fun. Short but wicked campaign. Starbreeze knows how to make stuff look awesome in first person. Apparently, and if you can find anyone, the co-op is really great.
Even if it wasn't a reboot-to-FPS of a cult classic, Syndicate suffered just from the appearance of being yet another entry in the shooter-plus-gimmick subgenre. Throw in predictable plot twists, the aforementioned bloom problem, and a multiplayer suite that soon lost most of its player base, and it's not surprising that the game got a bad rap.
But, as others have mentioned, there's just something that feels right about this game. Say what you will about Starbreeze, but when it comes to great combat they don't screw around: Riddick was one of the best first-person melee systems I'd seen in ages, and the gunplay in Syndicate is immensely satisfying. It's fast-paced without being floaty; amazingly violent without seeming over-the-top. Powers are quick and fun to use, and they're well integrated into the game world - if you're quick, every rocket in that swarm headed your way can be reprogrammed and shot back at your enemy. Combat is smartly paced, with regular changes to weapons, battleground layout, or even the occasional (usually quite entertaining) boss fight. It never felt repetitive or got boring, which is quite a feat since running around killing people is pretty much all you do.
The campaign is a bit procedural, but it has its awesome moments and it's a good romp overall. It's hard to not get a little excited the first time you get your hands on a minigun. The in-game codex is a nice, well-written touch; makes me think a much deeper game was planned at first. Your upgrades are limited to a selectable pool of perks: damage reduction or regeneration during your DART overlay, hitting more opponents with Backfire, more damage for killstreaks, that kind of thing. It's simple, but they're useful little bonuses and they subtly encourage your progression. Haven't gotten to co-op myself, but I keep hearing it's pretty close to what a real FPS remake of the original game would feel like, which has piqued my interest.
As-is, I dropped $20 plus shipping and found the singleplayer good enough to go through more than once. It's not always particularly special, but it's a solid, enjoyable shooter nonetheless.
I put it this way: do you like any of the following?
- Hacking things remotely on the fly
- Disarming grenades/redirecting rockets in-flight
- Lots of awesome guns
- Trenchcoats
- Making dudes blow themselves up
- Making dudes shoot each other and then themselves
- Rifles that can tag targets and shoot around corners "ZF-1 in Fifth Element"-style
- Shotguns that can switch between regular shells and exploding bullets
- Revolvers that can tear dudes in half
- Miniguns
- Napalm guns
- ALL KINDS OF GUNS
Just asking, is it possible, if I have an australian amazon account, to be able to use the amazon download services? I just tried entering a US address, and putting that as my current location, but when I go to try and buy any of the games, it still says that the download services are only available to US customers. Is there a way to get around this, do I just need to set up another account? Or am I just buggered in this regard?
Cheers.
I suppose that even if I can't get them, then I can just wait and hope that the steam sale matches it.
Yeah, they've patched in KBAM icons and you're able to rebind stuff. Added a FOV slider too. Not many graphic options, and all of this needs to be done in a launcher outside of the game but it's a bit better than some console ports have allowed.

The PC version got slammed review wise, what do you real gamers think of it?
Plenty of people in the steam thread are loving it, can't day I've seen anyone criticise it in a huge way. I'm sure it has its faults but most are happy with it.

Well, the game in general got slammed review wise, not just the PC version.
It's got sleeper/cult hit all over it. 10 bucks is a good entry point. It's got satisfying action, and overall it's kind of just goofy. Characters are a bit dumb but on the enjoyable side of dumb. Game is well paced so far, gives you a decent amount of stuff to do even though it's largely linear. One of the biggest compliments I can give it is that it makes fighting robots satisfying. I generally HATE fighting robots in games, I think they're about the dullest enemies in the world usually. They often just feel like broing bullet sponges But this gives you lots of stuff to do them that is both tactical and satisfying. Shoot off their head and their AI goes wonky and they'll target other robots. Shoot off their legs and they'll stop charging you and obviously be slower (they will fairly creepily crawl toward you still though). Story/character wise might put people off. It's very Japanese in that it's broad stereotypes (a scene early on in the Oval office has every speaking member in the scene sound like they're from Texas), often hammy and melodramatic, but it's also got a weird buddy cop movie vibe mixed.
I don't know if I would've been happy at 40 bucks yet, but I'm happy for my 10 for sure.
