I was really expecting this OP to open with, "My instructions are to amuse individuals with information about information about information about information..."
So, my next question about the game; what kinda upgrades can you get for weapons, and how does the system work? Is it like the first game or the second?
It's like the first game in that there's various reload speed+/capacity+/RoF+/laser sights/etc. that can fit on most any weapon, then most weapons have a special upgrade - armor piercing for the pistol, exploding rounds for the revolver, heatsink for the gattling, tracking rounds for the AR and SMG, etc.
But what are the limitations? And what's the shotgun's upgrade?
1. There are no limitations in regards to how many upgrades you can place on a gun, unless you max out a gun's attribute and the upgrade you've got is to raise said attribute. However, most of them are contextual, as some guns allow for a Silencer, most guns allow for the laser sight, etc.
2. The Shotgun's upgrade is the double barrel, and fires two shots at once, doubling its power. It's insane.
Hey, wasn't there some thing about real life ads being in this game
because I don't see any
Much ado about nothing, it seems. I remember the big stink about that as well, and didn't see anything in the game resembling purchased ad space. There's the hard-to-miss FFXXVII poster gag, but that's about it.
Yeah, and in the last thread somebody even managed to get their dick bent out of joint about that.
Can't tell if this is a snide remark cast in my direction or not, but someone brought up the possibility of the Shinra logo showing up in HR and I wasn't thrilled about the idea. I have no problems with poking fun at FF's continued existence.
Went to wikipedia to look up DX/MGS connections, and found this tidbit:
During sections of the game where the New York skyline is visible in the background, the two towers of the World Trade Center are noticeably missing; the real towers were destroyed a year after the game was released. Harvey Smith has explained that due to texture memory limitations, the portion of the skyline with the twin towers exists in the game's data files but had to be left out of the final game, with the other half mirrored in place of it. According to Smith, during the game's development, the developers justified the lack of the towers by stating that terrorists had destroyed the World Trade Center earlier in the game's storyline.[37]

That is amazing. Cautionary tales aside, I can't wait to see what the future holds for bionic prostheses. I remember just being in awe when I saw the interview about the future of them on The Daily Show earlier this year.

I was planning on staying out of these threads until I'd finished the game properly, but this stuck out to me in some of the Montreal emails:
Some of them are addressed from Nicolette DuClare. Wasn't she like 20-something in DX1, 30 years later? I'm assuming they mean her mother, Beth. A quick yes-or-no spoiler will do if that's cleared up at some point.

I figured it was because he just wanted an augmented soldier of his own to fight off the all aug team that attacked. Damn, I was wondering why some of the files said they were able to get a hold of more samples afterwards. I just assumed it was because Jensen went back to work and they collected some from a check up.
Wow, that really does paint Sarif in a new light. I'm going to kill him next playthrough, the bastard.

You can also find emails from Morgrette Everetts (name correcto?) and Tracer Tong (The Younger) also makes an appearance too.

Just finished the game.
Man, what a batch of endings. The only one I really immediately ruled out was Taggart's Illuminati one, because I typically shy away from the idea of a shadow organization exerting that sort of control over society. Metal Gear Solid taught me this. Repeatedly.
Darrow's plan—while horribly flawed and rooted in nothing more than pure, smoldering envy—had some points that made sense, but I ultimately ruled it out, too. Human progression shouldn't be limited because one man is afraid of where it may take us.
That left Sarif's plan. I tended to agree with him the most. Change happens. There is little anyone can do about it. You can kick and scream, but human nature finds a way. That said, his plan leaves an awful lot of power in the hands of big corporations, and involves manipulating the public. Something I'm sure everyone was appalled about when we learned that Picus was doing. I couldn't do it.
So the choice was made. Blow the place. I take it all down on top of me and I don't even get martyrdom out of the deal. No one will miss me, except maybe Malik. I did save her life, after all. I like to think Pritchard would come to my funeral and pretend not to care (while he secretly does, of course). But it felt like the right thing to do. Sarif was right about one thing, evolution shouldn't be held back by one man, or controlled by one group. I had to trust that society—humanity—could guide itself through this, without a guiding hand. Like it has countless times over the last few thousand years. I didn't deserve to spin this to my whim any more than Darrow, or Taggart, or Sarif did.
It's over. Let society sort it out. On their own terms. It's like Adam says in the voice over. You just have to believe that humanity can make the right decisions. I know I tried.
My only consolation other than a pile of rubble crushing my mechanical body? At least Eliza agreed with my choice.
And one spoiler end game question:
How do the scientists get out if you let Malik die earlier in the game?

Up to Picus in my second play through. Just went down the big elevator. Have so far ghosted every level, and only knocked out only 2 people in this playthrough. Zeke in the factory, and some random guy who was in my way and wouldn't move. So far, no deaths.....that I know of.
Ok, I have to say, screw stealthing the inside of the police station. If you don't have the invisible Aug, you are screwed. I have to start all over now because buttmunch desk sergeant is whining about some screw-up he did and blames on me. This game was pretty awesome until I got to the point where I cannot progress because of this.
There's 4 entrances to the police station. Front door, 2nd floor side door, 3rd floor vent access from the fire escape in the alley, and basement access via sewers.
I came in through the sewer and it bought me out in the alley to the fire escape. Is there a more direct route?
There's one in Yungshu or whatever tucked off in a corner area next to a locked storage shed.
Doesn't that one only show up on the return trip once you can no longer reach the pod one? I remember seeing it and its torn up security gate right next to a shed I had explored on the previous visit and probably would have noticed it had it been there back then. I hadn't found the pod hotel one, but I'm guessing it's the same guy.

That kind of confused me, too. Beth DuClare is mentioned on Picus broadcasts, and I think she's listed as a WHO official, so they're different people - Nicolette doesn't seem to be in on the loop concerning Picus given some of the emails with her, so I'm guessing she's like a 15 year old intern or something, although that still makes her seem too old for DX and DX2.

There is a path through the sewers that literally leads to their door. On the other side of that door is the morgue.

There's a ladder in the sewers that leads up to a Level 3 Hack door which transitions directly into the police station (like 1 room from the Morgue too).

Yeah, I'd also say the personal super soldier was part of it. But the text saying 'we need more Patient X tissue to test/prove this. Hey and in recent months Sarif told us he had plenty of X tissue samples ready!'
Dick, those were Jensen's three limbs. Was confirmed in the other emails that he only lost his right arm/torso damage in the attack but Sarif instructed the surgeons to make him a quad amputee.

Has anyone had issues with quests not progressing to the next stage?
There's a problem with that in the quest Talion AD.
It tells you to read the pocket secretary but then doesn't add a quest marker to the map. No worries, though, the quest is not borked. You just need to go to the spot where the map marker would have been - namely, the gross sort of creek-open sewer area in the far east of Hengsha, near where you found the kidnapped prostitute.
Thanks, this is exactly the one I had issues with. 'Preciate it.

It was in Jensen's contract. I don't think this is information that was withheld from Jensen anyway, just withheld from the player until they read the e-mail. I'm sure Jensen had the argument with Sarif himself at some point. It also gives more weight to the "I never asked for this".

You don't have any grenades? 'Cause I beat him on my first try by throwing 4-5 frag mines at him from behind cover, then shooting him in the face a bunch with a machine pistol. I've heard the barrels are all you need to beat him though.

Most important tip is that the smaller canisters will let out green gas that stuns him. In general, the best way to beat him is to wait until he stops firing and try to stun him some way (stun gun, grenades, canister), and then you can get him in an infinite barrel throwing loop.
