I'm at the third boss and man oh man, Huge spoiler:
I KNEW I shouldn't have had that bio implant at the LIMB clinic, my first thought was "I bet this is some sort of plan by the bad dudes to control me". I need to listen to my intuition more often. This is the biggest pain in the ass ever.

Oh and am I the only one who hasn't gotten typhoon and won't my first playthrough for that matter?

I didn't get the Typhoon for my first playthrough, but that was a Pacifist run. On my second run I'm doing a mostly-stealthy, completely-deadly run, and I've used it a couple times. One big one was in Hengsha 2:
Instead of sneaking into the Harvesters' hideout via the sewers, I just busted in the front door.

Shot the front may pointblank with my 10mm, then flung his dead body down the street to his comrades. They came running, I cloaked, ran out, and used the Typhoon.

...and now I see how beautiful it can be.

I had a similar experience jumping from above, using the Icarus stun, and then using the PEPS. I really liked that entire segment.

So the conversation battle after the first boss fight
where you argue with Sarif. I don't know how hard it is to win, but I nearly jumped up and danced around the room when Silver Tongue and the achievement for doing so. No social augs or anything. I much, much prefer the way HR handles conversations to LA Noire, which really bugged me with its OH YOU CHOSE WRONNNNG sound effect. HR feels a whole lot more organic, but also more strategic. I like Sarif as a character, and when he talks I get the impression that he's not a bad guy (don't tell me if I'm wrong, I've not played further than this!). He acts like he's withholding information but not maliciously, he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would orchestrate a massive murder spree on his own company for selfish means. So I treated him accordingly, pushing him where needed but empathising to show I'm on his side, and bam, argument won.

I enjoy the hacking conceptually, but the mouse controls, at least for me, are pretty wonky.

It's really annoying when you need to rapidly multitask capturing a few nodes and defending a few others, and you click where you're supposed to and the game just decides not to fucking register it, leaving the menu for the node open and making you unable to do anything else until you go back and re-click. I wish they would let you, say, map the various commands to WASD so you could do things faster. Fuck, I'd buy an aug that allowed that, for two praxis.

Hmm, so I guess it isn't just a Mouse problem. It's also frustrating when dealing with your inventory where I'll repeatedly click on an item to examine it, and either it wont bring up the menu or will pick the item up after 20 clicks.

I do like the hacking a lot, though.

The pointer interface leaves a bit to be desired. You know... like actually clicking where the pointer is.

I think that's my only gripe with the interface, though. I like the auto-inventory, the HUD is crisp, and everything "works" in the world of the game. Even the waypoints didn't look out of place.

I wish there were a way to turn off the HUD without glitching the game, though. There are some awesome screenshots to be taken.

On the bright side, hacking interface problems can usually be puzzled around. It really is awesome to sit and look at the board and see where you can go relatively safely, and what you need to do before you get caught, and plan your actions for while the trace is going.

Honestly with a perfected (IE responsive) interface, the hacking in this game WOULD make a pretty decent $3 downloadable puzzle game, if they gave it a buttload of levels. Hell there could be progression where you unlock abilities and... and...

I know, right? The touchscreen interface would only help it feel more futuristic. I love opening up a new hack, looking at the network, choosing my path and where/when to start fortifying, then freaking out as soon as RED OH DAISIES THEY'RE LOOKING FOR ME RUN RUN GRAB THAT DATASTORE THEN OUT THE EXIT HAHAHAHAHAHA SUCK IT. I like that it actually works like a puzzle. If your plan isn't working, it's because of something you've not considered. I got really stuck on safe in.. I think the seller's apartment in Detroit (I think it was the safe) until I stopped and worked out how I was being caught so quickly, and why it was taking me so long on some of the nodes. After that, life was much easier. Basically yes, give me this on a phone please.

I was reading posts in the gamefaqs forums, and there was one that piqued my interest. It was "What game would you compare Deus Ex: HR to as". And almost all of the reply posts were Metal Gear Solid...

Did I miss a step? How does this game not scream Splinter Cell (not the later ones in the series)? I thought Deus Ex was more like Splinter Cell mixed with Shadowrun (start menu music reminds me of Shadowrun).

Also, does anyone else say "Hack the planet." to themselves whenever they hack something or is it some weird obsession of mine after watching the movie Hackers when I was a kid?

If you can, you could backtrack to a hacked turret, and toss that in the boss room ahead of you. It takes the boss down fast, just stick behind it.

Alternatively, just hide and hit him with whatever you've got. All grenade/mine types do some kind of damage, or at least leave him open to attack, and there are plenty of guns and ammo lying around if you went in there unarmed.
For me he was never as aggressive as the other bosses, so taking cover and pot shots was a viable tactic.

true but they handled really well the fact that the story wasn't about that at all.

    hell, megan related
the work she's doing in captivity has nothing to do with patient X. That doesn't become a plot point until the post credits scene and the implied nano-virus discussion.

It's very effective at making the world and characters seem like more than simply the plot of the game.

I do like how in this game the alternate paths are more non-obvious then in the first game and they often occur under more dangerous circumstances. I got stuck after the saferoom bit with all the guys until I stopped and started examining my environment. Of course then I proceeded to cheese my way to headshots on all the soldiers but still :P

The only ting plot-wise that's bothered me is
my having to restrain myself from shouting "it's a fucking trap for fucks sake" within about a minute of arriving at Picus. I mean seriously. And then the game having Pritchard point out that something seems fishy was just salt in the wound. Gee the building was evacuated and put on lockdown right before I arrived? Yeah, no shit something seems off.

The feel I got from the emails and such was that the response wasn't supposed to be detached from the player. They didn't want Adam to show you how you're supposed to feel, but rather to reward the intrepid player who reads all the emails by giving some actual impact. For instance...

    In Adam's apartment:
Seriously... they put his dog down? I didn't need Adam to get pissed over that. I was Adam at that moment and was not happy at all.

Of all the terrible things that happen in the game to people, I think this got the most emotional response from me. I wanted to find the person who did that and hold Q on them FOREVER. I think it's just because it was so offhand and inconsiderate, and Adam has so little to connect him to humanity, I felt like he (I) had really lost something over this.

Edit: I also very much agree with everyone that a tuned mouse interface (or hotkeys when hovering over a node) would make the hacking perfect. I would definitely buy and play that hacking minigame on my phone. I have played some hacking games on the iPhone, but so far I haven't found one that is even as good as Uplink (old PC hacking game) or the hacking in this game.

    Just downloaded a patch -

    Fixes:
    - We have addressed various issues that can occur for players that would result in ‘stuttering’.
o Stutters that are the result of graphics driver shader processing are now removed or significantly reduced.
o Stutters that are the result of data streaming have been removed or significantly reduced.
o Performance has been improved and made more stable on dual-core systems. This could previously also result in stuttering.
    - Fixed issue where some players couldn’t complete the Motherly Ties side quest.
    - Fixed an issue where doors in Omega Ranch sometimes wouldn’t open.
    - The TYM medical card should no longer fall through the table if an NPC’s body comes into contact with the card. Players already stuck in this area will need to revert to a previous save before the card fell through.
    - Occasional hangs for some players during video-playback have been fixed.
    - A crash on startup when running DX11 on a single-core CPU has been fixed.
    - An issue causing Eyefinity setups to not be correctly detected for some players has been fixed.
    - Fixed an issue where the HUD would get permanently disabled for some players.
    - Fixed certain issues that caused the mouse cursor to be able to leave the game-screen on multi-monitor setups.
    - Fixed an issue that caused the mouse cursor to not be visible in-game when the user has mouse trails enabled in Windows. We still recommend disabling mouse trails for a smoother in-game mouse cursor.
    - Fixed issue where ammo count for collected guns is incorrect when Adams weapon is augmented.
    - In DX9 mode:
o Fixed error message for some users when trying to use FXAA Medium or FXAA Low anti aliasing modes.
o Fixed shadow-mapping ‘lines’ on some graphics hardware when using anisotropic filtering.

    Feature Additions:
    - The Enter and Numpad-Enter keys can now be bound to game actions in the keyboard control menu.
    - Intro logos can now be skipped on all but the first run of the game.
    - Added windowed mode.
o Selectable in the menu, and can be toggled between windowed, fullscreen, and fullscreen windowed using ALT-ENTER.
    - Added an option to change the text language of the game. This setting only changes the text language, the audio is controlled by the language option in Steam.

On top of this we are continuing to monitor for any issues that may need to be addressed in a future patch. One extra feature we can already confirm for a future patch is support for Nvidia 3DVision and Nvidia Surround.

We hope this patch will allow players to further enjoy Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

They added Windowed mode, weeeeee! I had already worked out how to stream the game in fullscreen mode (dxtory feeding into xsplit worked for me), but I still prefer windowed modes, just because I tend to alt-tab a lot. It might hurt my ability to properly appreciate the story, but having beaten it once, I'm not as concerned about that.

What really impresses me is that they are making an effort to support the PC version of a cross-platform game (which is what I hoped, but I try not to hope too much). All I want now is something that says "we added hotkey binds for hacking when hovering the mouse over a node" and it'd be perfect.

I think they should add a third tree to the battery Aug that allows extra batteries to recharge. I'd even accept pre-reqs. Hell, the subsequent batteries could recharge more slowly than the first. Anything would be an improvement.

    Currently Playing:
    The Division, Warframe (XB1)
    GT: Tanith 6227

Especially because he wasn't even dead yet. "Oh, we didn't know if you were going to make it, and I work for SARIF INDUSTRIES so it's not like I've got the scratch for a kennel or caretaker, so I had to put him down. Soz!"

I will steal candy from your desk forever.

Also, hacking controls: they already have spacebar quickstop, they just need to add on-mouseover node highlighting and then grenade key for nuke, left and right click for capture and fortify respectively and it'll be perfect.

I didn't even bother filling up my other batteries for pretty much the whole game.

Yeah, if there is a flaw in this game it's that there is no way to charge past 1 battery. I would honestly hope a DLC pack or something adds that functionality in.

They're trying to encourage you to think of lots of different ways to solve problems except with your sword arms or wizardry.

But then Cyberboost's candy monopoly would crumble. And if candy land dies, so does the world.

If you could fill more than 1 the game would become far too easy, encouraging people to just stealth all the way through levels. They designed it how it is so that you have to carefully choose when to spend all your energy.

To me it was a pretty obvious design decision, and the right one.
