One thing that has really gotten me curious is how it's said that your actions in Lonesome Road will "forever change the Mojave". I'm guessing that the big Nuclear ICBM Ulysses is standing in front of in the trailer has something to do with it.

It's much more likely to be overblown advertisement hype. You can't do anything in any video game without "profoundly changing the landscape" or "dynamically affecting the decisions" or whatever.
Looks like the Underground Hideout's going to have a beta version OWB patch coming out, possibly tonight. It was on the Facebook page.
Just as excited for that as I am for LR. If the Hideout patch comes out, make sure to read the instructions carefully; I've seen the info on previous builds, and they sometimes require you to clear out certain areas of your stuff else it gets lost. Not saying that'll happen this time, but it's probably a good idea to read up on it before actually trying it.

Now I'm really glad I spent the weekend running OWB on my current guy, the timing of it was perfect!
Also for AWOP users, new version up yesterday. Added 3 new areas, bringing the count up to 100. One of 'em sounds pretty decent-sized too. Dunno if anyone else has gotten into Supplementary Uniques, but that had a new version come out last week as well; added 5 new guns for a total of 102.

Is it possible to use the 4GB extender version of NVSE and not have the Steam overlay whited out?
Is it possible to use the 4GB extender version of NVSE and not have the Steam overlay whited out?
what do you mean whited out? it works fine for me, achievements and all with the nvse 4gb extender. (well the achievement box is now a news box but im still getting achievements)
After kind of despising Operation Anchorage and Broken Steel, I decided to give Point Lookout a shot, to at least keep me busy during the last legs of the Lonesome Road wait.
I was pleasantly surprised. The plot made no sense, and the environment was seven kinds of inappropriate for Fallout 3, but it was not bad. I was afraid hearing the enemies were bullet sponges (which fucking aggravates me in Fallout 3) but with the Backwater Super Rifle and a crit build, I didn't particularly notice. It was just a fun, novel place to explore (and it was nice to be able to do that after the others). Bethesda's level designers did a great job with it.
so i was just looking at the vault page for the wolfhorner ranch in new vegas, the one thats just at the end of the road after the nipton.. (maybe possible lonesome road spoiler)
and the site is claiming its Ulysses home? where are they getting this info? they dont elaborate and i cant find any clues in or around the ranch grounds, they dont say its mentioned in any dlc either, infact it seems the only reason they know this is because it called Ulysses's ranch in other language versions of the game, which i suspect is left over from when he was going to be a companion.. anyone have any info on this on where it says in the game its his ranch?
Is it possible to use the 4GB extender version of NVSE and not have the Steam overlay whited out?
I had this problem once, I'm trying really hard to remember what it was though..... perchance, is Steam running already before you start up the game with the 4gb extender? I think that was causing me issues at one point, if I just went straight to the extender without Steam actually running. If I think of the other thing it might've been, I'll let you know.
You can definitely have Steam and the 4gb extender running at the same time though. I do have a few problems with screenshots though (if I quit the game they're all gone, but if I upload/etc them through the Steam overlay prior to quitting the game it's fine), but it's a minor nuisance at best.

I recently did it again and was pleasantly surprised as well. I think because of the way the enemies there work (IIRC they have a DT-like damage soak instead of percentage based resistance like everything else in FO3), there are certain guns that really work well against them, and some that don't. The backwater rifle and lincoln's repeater both do really well being high damage single shot weapons.
Really? You didn't like Anchorage? I actually quite enjoyed it. Well, I enjoyed all the fallout 3 DLC I've played, which is everything but the Pitt, and Broken steel. I liked Anchorage because of the change of pace it was. I know it seems odd, but I kinda like how it worked, and how you were supposed to do things.
Granted, I was playing a sniper character, so nothing ever saw me as I made them explode with the gauss rifle. In fact, Anchorage is probably my second favorite of the 3 I've played, the first being Mothership Zeta just because of how goofy it is.
I just found it to be irritatingly irrelevant. I don't play Fallout for the corridor shooting. The plot was little more than "do this to get loots!!" I had no reason to care about some random pre-war military campaign.
And I also played it as a melee character and ye gods was it not designed for that. Just a big pain in the ass all around. I liked glitching the T-51, combat armor, and shock sword for infinite item health, but that was about it. When the best part of a DLC is a bug that's a problem.
Same issues with Broken Steel: thin story, corridor shooting, meh.

I usually don't have Steam open, no. I have the exe pinned to my taskbar and launch it from there.
And when I say it's whited out, I mean exactly that. The little pop up boxes for achievements or people on my friends list are just a solid white box. If I shift+tab, the whole screen goes completely white until I hit it again.

OK, so a beta version of the new Underground Hideout is out, the link is on the facebook page.
That said, I'd recommend waiting for a more final version, hopefully to be done this week. It puts some things up on the wall:
But the meshes and stuff is incomplete, so it's doing this to the rest of my wall:
Everything is still there, it's just not displaying correctly. Think theres some other meshes he needs to incorporate in (or maybe I had a funny install). Either way, not all the OWB stuff is displaying properly yet, so probably best to wait. Still though, good to know that it's in the works/nearly done!
So I like this game. Lots. Now it has crashed. This makes me sad.
Got to the end of Honest Hearts and immediately after I
blow up the tunnel to stop the White Legs chasing Daniel
the game throws up a loading screen and then immediately throws up another screen that says "FalloutNV has stopped working", and then the game closes. Sometimes I'll get a bit of music and the first slide of the ending will kind of fade in before it happens.
So I'm assuming one of the mods I'm using (4gb .exe, NVSE, Nevada Skies, New Vegas Bounties I, NMC's Texture Pack, Community Bugfix patch and a couple others that should have no effect on HH whatsoever) is screwing with it? I tried deactivating them in FOMM and launching from the normal .exe (not the 4gb one) and that had no effect. Also tried verifying the cache and running in compatibility mode (because the internet told me to and I have no reason not to trust everything I read on it), with no change.
So, uh, help? I like this game super-lots and would like to not have to start all over again (or maybe even never finish Honest Hearts ever, which would suck even more!). Thanks.
Oh and here are my specs because apparently they're helpful:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
ATI HD Radeon 5850
Intel i7 920 @ 2.67 Ghz
6 gigs o' RAM
Does anyone have a recent version of Pikey's Ghost overhaul Mod (NV, not FO3)? Basically, Pikey adapted (I think) a very nice set of Ghost Armor and various Starcraft weapons for NV, through an attached quest.
The most recent version I can find in English is 102....two versions behind 110d, which is only available in Russian, unfortunately for me. Did anyone happen to grab a version more recent than 102 before it vanished off New Vegas? Apparently, this last version was called "The Ultimate Starcraft Ghost Mod", also.

Try turning off HDR and/or Anti Aliasing if you've got them enabled, either through the launcher or video card control panel.
I didn't play any of the DLCs when they came out, because I prefer to play in big chunks. Yesterday I finished up the other DLCs, now it's the afternoon of the 20th and it's not out
It feels so weird that I skipped the vast majority of the wait by ignoring DLC up till now, but at the last minute I still have to sit here and stare at a Steam page that makes no mention of Lonesome Road.
You're not in the One True Timezone, so it's understandable that you'd be confused about release dates. If it's like normal Steam content it'll be out in about 10 hours.
*yawns* Well, it's 7am. I'm tired, barely awake... and I'm downloading Lonesome Road. I spent last night preparing the necessary stimpaks, weapons, and armor. Basically, I'm going to kick ass and chew bubblegum... and I'm all out of--wait, wait... no, I do in fact have bubblegum in my inventory.... well okay, then.
EDIT: Wow, done already. That was only, like, 7 minutes.

Don't think I have AA on, but playing without HDR? I guess I'll try it to see if it's the problem, but I'd probably rather have the white out than no HDR.
It's also possible the enhanced shader mod is doing it, but I thought I first noticed it when I used the 4GB loader.
for those who are playing it, how is the divide added to the game? is it placed on the mojave to the west with the entrance being the wrecked canyon or do you use the wrecked canyon and have it go to a whole new world space?

The Wrecked Canyon is the entrance. And C2B, the Silo isn't a spoiler, really. It's just the first area you must go through that happens to have a view of the Divide.
Now here is a spoiler, of the "Oh, WTF, that is crazy!" kind:
As if to demonstrate who is at the top of the food chain, you witness a Deathclaw charge forth only to be mauled in the distance... you then see one of the new enemies, a "Cave Tunneler" come out from where the Deathclaw is.... WTF!?
Also, something that's annoying me, that starts near the beginning of the add-on:
The game treats me as being loyal to NCR, even though I uploaded Yes Man and upgraded the securitrons, so basically Ulysses is calling me an NCR lapdog. It's kind of irritating, since I'm pretty much "Yeah, fuck those guys.". I guess it's because I did most of For the Republic, Pt. 2, and got Idolized by them? That's all I can think of, anyway.
