    I didn't like the ending because it didn't touch any of house's biggest issues. Nothing was tied up.
    And of course House didn't plan the big surprise. The entirety of his scenes in the episode imply the opposite.

    I disagree, somewhat.
    House completely sacrificed everything, knowingly and willingly, for Wilson. Not for petty revenge, not for personal gain, purely as a selfless act for his friend. He not only came to terms with Wilson's decision (implicitly), but he did a completely selfless, if completely reckless (baby steps) act. Did he become a different person? Of course not, people don't change. But he grew, just a little, and showed himself his own potential to be a good person, without having to be a decent person.
