Dragon Shadow Spell is an SRPG released at the end of January for the PS2 by Flight-Plan (Summon Night series). I'm not certain if Atlus (or anybody else... Houk?) is planning on picking it up yet, but it seems to have a lot of the charm of the SN:SS series and it pretty seamlessly incorporates FMVs into the game engine itself for the spell and skill effects (Grandia 2 is a good example of another game that did this well). Plus the sprite work looks really slick, and that's always an easy way to win me over. And other things like giant monsters and the like certainly help and set it apart from the N-1 faire.
From what I've gathered, the engine is pretty close to something like Fire Emblem (ie, pretty simple), with the addition of being able to initiate "Party Mode" at certain costs to allow all nearby party members to immediately attack with some spells and abilities being only available while in Party Mode. Characters are purchased/hired/unlocked as you go through the game, but every one is unique (no 'grunts' or duplicates) and when you start a New Game+, you carry over all those that you've picked up. Plus multiple endings with one obviously 'true' one too.
So really, I dunno, any info people know or the like or if Atlus has said something about localizing it given that they've been chumming up with Flight-Plan lately and this is a new IP instead of a continuation of the SN series, I'm hopeful at least that we'll see it.
Famitsu Scans (scored 32/40 = 8/10 with the main complaint being a lack of explanation/some things poorly documented)
