I can't wait to get this title. It is my "Sonic" as it were.

So, with this flying out Tuesday, I'm really torn between SSX and Sonic this month.
I think SSX will win out purely for the re-playability.
But Sonic has mini games.
My girlfriend will be all over this - hopefully that means I won't have to pay for it It also looks like another game that will keep me up with my uni buddies way into the night - a common room with two televisions and 24-hour access is both a blessing and a curse.
I don't understand why all the major sites' reviews aren't up yet. Gametrailers.com have there's up on their homepage now though.
Gave it an 8.4, said the controls were better than on a traditional pad once you get used to them, it's really pretty, and the soundtrack is awesome (the stuff they play is). They also say that it's most like Tricky, and people who were disillusioned by 3 and On Tour (I was) will really like this game. They complained that it had no story (?) or online play (??), and they said the multiplayer options weren't great but didn't really go into it.
This might sound odd, but this is my "must buy a wii to play this" game. Not Zelda. I just love 1080 and SSX...
must... buy... wii
too bad i havn't seen one on sale since xmas.
Toys R Us are supposedly going to have some this Sunday. I think they're starting to get a little bit easier to find too, last time I was there was the afternoon after they got a shipment and they said it took them 3 whole hours to sell out the 60+ consoles.
Anyway Ngamer (a very good British Nintendo magazine, they are the ones who said zelda would be on wii ages before anyone else) just gave this a review and since it didn't appear to be here or on gamerankings I thought I would let you guys know. I don't really want the game but im sure there are people who will appreciate me posting the score and breakdown.
Its a 4 page review so I will just take a few bits and then the part from the end summary.
Graphics 8
Sumptuously lit, filled with cool effects and snow that looks soft enough to dive into.
Audio 8
Better than average selection of music played on a radio station with a very punchable DJ.
Gameplay 9
There's loads of stuff to do, places to explore, shortcuts to find and hidden things to unlock.
Innovation 8
The SSX formula works perfectly on the wii. The nunchuk is like a handeld snowboard.
Summary
Huge, meaty, substantial. It's a wii title without a minigame in sight, yet it's as well suited to a quick thrash down the slopes as it is an all night sesh. A winter sports game for all seasons.
Final score 88.
The second opinion says ''Buy.This.Game.'' Then goes on to say how its great.
Part of it says the controls are superb,
-Not as many tricks as previous titles:
I have absolutely no problem with this. I usually end up finding the biggest point tricks and the coolest looking tricks and just use those.
- No storyline/character interaction videos
...*shrug*
- No online multiplayer
It's the single player I'm buying this for anyway

No way, dude -- Trauma Center and Wario Ware were my killer apps, if it makes you feel better. I still haven't gotten past the third temple of Twilight Princess. :P

I'm definitely picking it up.
Even more positive press! I haven't been able to find a single impression/review that has anything negative to say about the controls, which is key to my interest in the game. It ships today, right? I'm hoping that Best Buy has it tomorrow, but I hold no faith in the BBs by my house.
I forget now -- is it supposed to have the one continuous mountain type of setup, a la SSX3? Or is it more arcadey stage-select style, like Tricky? Either way, I'm stoked.
I kind of hate how every game now gets chided for not having online multiplayer. I mean, I would dig it if it were there and it were really good, but otherwise I'm completely fine with a single-player and local multiplayer experience.

Well the Gametrailers review did mention that sometimes the game had a hard time registering the uber trick motions. But I would guess it's the kind of thing you just need to get used to, as it's obviously more picky than a simple button press.
First impressions when starting a run down the virtual mountains of Blur: they've got some nice lighting, looking directly at the sun at the top of the slope makes for some beyond-Gamecube graphical effects; this is hard to control, using the nunchuk for movement, the Wiimote for tricks; I don't get it; I keep falling down, followed by some violent controller shaking; wait, I think I got it; I GOT IT!; this is pretty damn cool; Jesus, my hands are freezing!
Like many Wii games, in SSX Blur, maneuvering a snowboarder (or skier) with the two-handed control scheme takes some getting used to. But you'll find your hands, eyes and brain synching up quickly, changing your thought process from "How in the hell am I supposed to do this?" to "I can't believe I just pulled that off." I was nailing Ubertricks to the surprise of SSX Blur devs in no time."
SSX Blur was designed specifically to set itself apart from other games in the series as a title that would take full advantage of Nintendo's unique control scheme. That was the number one aspect that the EA Montreal team focused on. Not unlike Nintendo's Wario Ware Smooth Moves, the game is less of a iterative leap and more of a demonstration of the capabilities of the Wii-mote. Same gameplay, totally new control scheme. But it works.
Also exclusive to the Wii version of SSX was a solid 60-frames per second frame rate, a first for the series.
The Wii version of SSX also features a unique soundtrack, dynamically adding layers of sound with each successful trick and filled meter level. That soundtrack was designed by EA music vet, Junkie XL, contributor to games like Burnout Legends, Destroy All Humans!, The Sims 2, Forza Motorsport and Need for Speed Carbon. He even added music to the film adaptation of Tecmo's Dead or Alive—watch for the North American straight-to-DVD release soon!
I think I may buy this game. I don't generally care for snow boarding, and haven't played a game based on it since the original 1080, but what the heck. I need something on my Wii.
i just dropped $50 on sonic (which is awesome fun btw), i want to buy a classic controller along with smw, dkc, and kirby, and now this...this...THING shows up, demanding even MORE of my money.
Ahhh, stores around here aren't gonna have this until tomorrow.
The classic "shipped vs. in stores" debate. :P I hope Best Buy has it tomorrow; I have that $10 off coupon from CAG I'm going to try and use. If not, Nintendo World should have it in stock, but I'm pretty optimistic it'll be at BB, as it's an EA title and it's a snowboarding title, so it should be "XTREEEEM" enough to be readily available.

Original soundtrack by Junkie XL. From what I've heard it's pretty good.
