Oh man, that first explosion in the video. First explosion goes off, and you see someone fly into the air for a fraction of a second before it's blocked out by another explosion. goddamn
I'll never get sick of sound design in this game. The way everything is so cacophonous and constantly overwhelming you with sound just works so well, that theme still gives me chills
Oh man does that trailer mean we can boost dudes over walls?
No.
Great flopping gravy biscuits, they're really looking to take Call of Duty on with this thing. EXPLOSIONS galore! This might be the first Battlefield game with single player that I'll actually bother to suffer through (although to be fair I would've suffered through Bad Company 2's single player if I could change the field of view).

Calling it now. We get two more teaser videos for Operation Guillotine, one on the 16th and one on the 23rd. Exclusive beta period will probably start then on the 23rd, with the open beta starting on Monday the 25th, 1 month from launch.
Anyone got a lead on the best and/or cheapest place to preorder this?
Best legit place is Direct2Drive afaik. ($54 - any coupons / promotions that may be running)
There are cheaper places that will sell you Origin keys, but they're fairly shady.
about $46 with one of the 15% off codes for D2D floating around. I think the CAG one is still active

you missed nothing by skipping BC2's SP campaign
It wasn't that forgettable. South America was pretty, and people said funny stuff once in a while.

I think this is the first time I've seen computer graphics model that spiky corona you may see around street lamps at night, though I have heard people who don't wear contacts or have not had laser eye surgery don't see it.

It did, but the thing that bothered me the most was the suddenly serious and kinda smart Haggard guy in some scenes, I liked him alot more in Bad Company 1.

L4D and L4D2 has some really nice lens effects, of course it looks gorgeous here.

Some of them:
-A spawn beacon in the outdoors spawns you with a parachute drop, which you can control. Spawn beacon goes away as soon as you spawn on it.
-Transport choppers are rewarded for focusing on transport.
-Squad bonuses don't stack.

Yeah the dialogue was the only good thing about BC2 that I can remember. There was not enough of it though
They should just hire a group of improvising actors and sit them down in a room and have them act their characters for a few hours, talking about random stuff. Listening to that would make boring treks through the jungle more fun
I have stared into Satan's asshole, and it fucking winked at me.

All of that dialogue sounds very improvised, but in a good way. It's like they asked the voice actors to just start talking among themsevels in character and enough of it was good so they included it. It's those little touches that really made BC2 and Battlefield in general, better than COD, for me.

I love the dialogue in BC2. I enjoyed the tone of the game in general. I hope it carries over to the BF3 singleplayer.

They've said BF3 will have a far more serious tone than BC2. I'm sure the inevitable BC3 will bring back the comedy, but you'll probably have to wait till 2013 for it :P
The exchange there is fantastic. More games need to let actors improvise. Shit like this, slightly meandering with a few interlaced "umms", "errs", and momentary pauses, feels very genuine compared to most scripted action-movie stuff.

I laughed so fucking hard at how awesome that animation was, especially when synced with the music afterwards.

It was bizarre to play Nelson Bay in the day on conquest.
"Get that grenade out!"

Nelson Bay.
It was a night map, but they evidently needed it bright enough to not require NVGs. The result was kinda eh.

I wonder if those were improv.

Gotta love Haggard.
