Yeah...I got a Legendary (or whatever gets you into the BF3 beta) version of Medal of Honor for 360 and after a brief chat with EA support I learned that I can only get early access for the 360 beta. Im not sure I'll bother - I can wait the 2 days to play it on PC.
How do we get into the beta if we're not ordering from Origin? Is there a place we have to sign up for a chance to enter?
I'm assuming it'll be like any other beta: they'll have a whole bunch of access codes that they'll give out to popular sites as well as having a sign up on the official website.
At least, that's how I hope it's going to happen because I too haven't pre-ordered from Origin/bought LE edition of Medal of Honor.
I played so much of Port Valdez in the BC2 beta that I never wanted to see that map again
I was thrilled when they made a conquest version. That map was awesome and the Conquest version was even better.

Port Valdez was my favorite BC2 map. In fact, the beta was the most fun I had playing that game - when the game officially released, I ended up playing a lot less because I had less fun on the other maps. :P

Port Valdez was excellent in the beta, due to the fact that you could avoid those awful bottlenecks using the ridges on the sides. Defenders had to be on their toes, not just their tippy-toes as they spam granada over the hill.
I think I played the map like, twice after the beta. It usually played out the same way each time and by the time the beta ended I didn't feel the need to play it again
I do agree the conquest versions of the rush maps were awesome though

Right, I know nothing about PCs and I do basically mean nothing whatsoever. I used to play TF2 on the PA servers almost religiously and last night after a few years away I played it at a pal's house and Jesus it was fun. So I've looked into getting a PC with BF3 as the bench mark because that trailer was all kinds of sexy. Basically I know nothing about minimum requirements or what card does what and makes the shiney parts even shinier so I'm hoping one of you guys could tell me if this PC would be able to play BF3 well. Don't really care about maxing it out, medium settings would be fantastic for me.
CPU:
Intel Core i5 2500
Operating System:
MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Motherboard:
Gigabyte Z68A-D3
Memory:
8GB DDR3 1333mhz (2x 4GB)
Hard Drives:
1TB S-ATAII 3.0Gb/s
Optical Drive:
22x DVD±RW DL S-ATA
Graphics card:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB
Sound card:
Onboard 7.1 Audio
Case:
Xigmatek Asgard + Xigmatek 400W PSU
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry to be another one of those guys asking about specs but PCs are scary things.

That should be able to run it pretty well. You should check out this thread if you haven't; you'll find a lot of helpful people and posts there about getting something off the ground. THe only thing I'm not sure about is whether that PSU is good or enough power. Nvidia cards tend to be a bit hungrier if I remember correctly, and if you ever want to SLI a pair down the line you'll need to replace it anyways. Also, it should be noted that for the most part PSU's that come with cases are blah, although I don't know enough about that brand.
Yes, that will play BF3 on max, but I will direct you to the computer build thread where we can probably build a better or cheaper computer for you depending on what your budget is.
You can even kind of tell that Port Valdez was going to have some nice inland action, but they decided to cut it out for some reason, the mini-map has it wwwwwwwwwwwwayy too well drawn out to be otherwise. Heck I bet we would have seen some water action too if it wasn't cut to a corridor map.

Cheers, Tycho. Yeah I started reading the rest of the thread and came to the guy on page 7 who mentioned that thread. Feel like a bit of a silly billy.
But thank you very much for the reply. It's very much appreciated. PC gaming again!

That is the worst BC2 conquest map. Like, THE WORST. Either you're on a good team that understands what chokepoints are, or your team rushes to the closest CP while they let themselves get boxed in the entire game. Just about every game I played on Valdez conquest was a stomp, either as the stomper, or the stompee. Still wasn't as bad as the worst battlefield map ever (Vantage Point in BC2:Vietnam :x), but it was close.
I really hope DICE learned their lesson from those maps. At least the team that did BC2:Vietnam can't possibly screw up recreating the BF2 maps for the Karkand Pack, right? :?

The squad rush version uses a bit of the inland.

I've always liked Port Valdez because it was the first map I ever played a Battlefield game on. But the third stage where the defenders get an Apache and attackers have to funnel through the fucking hot gates is lame.

Until a clever person steals said Apache. There are many places to hide and wait next to the helicopter pad.

I always had some moral code that I wouldn't shoot down the Apache before someone got into it.
But that just led to me putting C4 on it, then waiting for them to get in it.
Despite the fact that this is footage from a developer build with most of the graphics turned to low or off, I'm sure the 360 version will forever be known as the "really ugly version of Battlefield 3" :P
"this is all from the latest dev build of the 360 version" ALSO NOTE "this was recorded off of a test kit. the program used to record isn't all about quality, only showing bugs to the developers to get the point across. the videos are 1:1 off the recorder"
The 360 version might very well be the least graphically impressive version of the three, but its not going to look THAT bad ;-)
They could put a giant sign made of diamond and gold that's on fire shooting rainbows in their face, that says it's not the beta and most, if not all, of the setting are set to low and/or off and the fanboys will post that.
Edit: Hope the V-22 is also in multi.

Probably too complex to fly. And if they made it easy, then why not just make it a Blackhawk anyways?

And yeah if that guy can afford that gear then he can afford some fucking shelves from Target or something. Well at least its a neat stack.

Here are some photos. These are all on the 360 version, so the AA is shitty. War Tapes is back, baby!
More vids.
To say the dogfighting looks intense is an understatement.
Nothing I've posted uses a torrent client to view/use/discuss. We're doing nothing illegal.
It's also locked to 720p and 30 frames per second. But I'm sure it'll be super fun to play regardless - it's Battlefield 3.

Why not a Blackhawk? The Blackhawk can't turn into an airplane!
News to me!
Anyways, so hyped. Can't wait to steal everyone's dog tags forever always.
