Yeah, does anyone remember how.... dicey (pun intended) the BC2 beta was in the beginning? A least on the 360.
I played on the PC and it was pretty smooth, all things considered. I remember the beta crashing less than the final game. Ping times were properly reported, and ran smoother. Comparing the PC BC2 beta to the PC BF3 beta, the BC2 beta wins in every sense of the word.
Funny, I remember the BC2 beta to be an god forsaken mess on the PC when it first came out. HUGE crashes, massive performance issues, random disconnects... It was one of the worst beta's I'd ever played.
This one just crashes every now and then in a relatively non-comittal way.
It's definitely bizarre that they made the Caspian Border servers all passworded. It's pretty much the ideal way to show what standard Battlefield play is like. Their decision to eschew that in favor of an admittedly decent rush map is a bit of a puzzle.

Switching to Chrome has fixed a few battlelog issues for me, for some reason in firefox the quickmatch wouldn't work. DICE should have included a pre-launch setup for game settings, example would be mass effect 2. Would alleviate a few headaches.
Just tried the beta for about 2 minutes on my PC. It's a bit disappointing that I can't get to the menu to change the settings unless I spawn. Also disappointing that I can't seem to bind anything to mouse buttons, as I usually use Mouse2 to jump and bind duck to the spacebar. Hopefully they'll fix those problems soon as I'd like to actually try out the game.

It's odd, since you could bind mouse buttons in the alpha. The menu thing I would hope is going to change soon.
Downloading the beta nvidia drivers now since my game just closes out randomly. Hopefully they fix it.
blah, I can't join a server for some reason. i updated everything but it just sits there "Joining Server" eternally. I'm irritated. I'm also annoyed at my new keyboard, that is all.
I'm using chrome, it didn't give me any sort of warning about my browser though.... I don't understand why they are using this web based browser thing anyway, seems like exactly the sort of integration EA would want for Origin. Have the browser and battlelog stuff through there.
Anyone else have an ATI card that needs to be rescaled to get to the native resolution on your monitor? Because at full screen BF3 is about 15% smaller than my actual screen. Does anybody have a clue how to fix this?
Also how do I get it to recognize extra mouse buttons?
Okay, the UMP is just sick. The thing is a bullet hose. It has almost no muzzle climb and is very accurate at close/medium range. Also the IR site you can get is really cool.

Disabling UPNP did not fix it for me.

Did you change it to war tapes?
First thing I did after launching the game.
Dunno, just doesn't have the punch that BC2 has, although it could just be the lack of all the vehicles and explosives .

The Angry Dome will make a glorious return on the 25th of October, when the game releases.
