I do have to say being a day out from completing DX HR I'm almost tempted to trade it in. It didn't make me angry like LA Noire, and I enjoyed it enough, it just kind of felt like a stealth game where the developers wanted you to go about it one way and rewarded that one way well, but gave you the option of just fucking yourself over.

Here's something the previous fanservice in video games discussion made me wonder...

Wouldn't these people who draw those fanservicey cleavage-delivery systems make more money if they just drew porn/took commissions? I mean, I don't know, if you want to make money off drawings of women with large breasts, is video games really the most lucrative field, knowing you have to limit yourself?

I'd say if all the artists who focus on fanservice decided to just make a living off that, we'd probably get more sensible female characters in video games. with some cleavage and some larger-than-average breasts, but nothing like we have right now.

I mean, anyone played Blazblue? Most characters make fun of Noel Vermillion for having no breasts. Her breasts are pretty normal-sized, it's everyone else that has ridiculously large breasts. She certainly isn't as flat as the dialogue makes her out to be.

Confession time: I liked Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball when I was a kid. We tried for hours and hours to unlock the nudie mode, then we found out nudie mode didn't actually exist!

I really enjoyed DX HR, but I think the gameplay is kind of archaic. Playing the stealth elements of DX HR and then playing a new Splinter Cell or Assassin's Creed game makes for a jarring juxtaposition.

It doesn't come from Simpsons animators, I know that for sure. They'd get fired so fast if that were found out. I know that because that's what happened to some cheeky Rugrats storyboard artists.

That wasn't my experience at all, except that DX:HR does stack the deck against a "fuck cover, I'm gonna shoot motherfuckers" playstyle. I guess you'd fuck yourself over by avoiding hacking completely, but that seems like a true outlier. Where are you at that makes you feel fucked over?

Yeah, that's my take on it too. A lot of the game design decisions aren't really cutting edge. The whole boss fight argument has been beaten to death, but there's a reason so many people find that annoying.

I would think only weird nerd dads would do the Reverse Annie costume. Weird dads who want to crossdress. Regular nerd dads would probably do regular Annie and Tibbers.
