It's The End of The Post Office As We Know It

What will happen if the USPS defaults, you ask? They won't be able to borrow money, they'll only have enough money to cover operations for a week or two, at most, which would basically mean that the entire organization would shut down by January. And many more jobs will be lost, increasing the unemployment rate.
As if the US hasn't had enough to deal with, freak weather, the government almost defaulting, an outrageous unemployment rate, and our economy being inconsistent at best, now we have to deal with our main mailing service on the brink of bankruptcy and shutting down. What a year.
Much like the Texas thread, I would have to say that small business and the free market can take care of this issue, I'm sure we've all seen The Postman.

I would contend we haven't fixed any of our fuckups.
Couple that with the Triad constantly bombarding us with their hurricane machine, and there's no fucking hope to rebuild until we submit to Chinese will.

Both of my parents work for the post office, and have been following this closely. I don't think its going to happen quite that way, I certainly hope it doesn't, but we'll see.

I don't see the USPS going away.
I see 6 days a week mail service going away. I see many branches and overlapping post offices going away. I see a lot of the retirement and benefits going away or being reduced. They will be trimmed and taken down to a lean management system like pretty much any business or corporation in the last 10 to 20 years.
While this is serious, this also seems like a case of Sweeney being his usual melodramatic self. I guess everything seems like the end of the world when you're a teenager.

The BP oil spill, raging wildfires, hurricane Irene, Michelle Bachmann, and now the post office. Another sad face
Plus the banks bailout, the government almost defaulting, and the economy being inconsistent at best
