This game is a totally different experience once you get some decent tunes going. My playlist right now is all the Iron Maiden I have (for awesome), The Grey Race by Bad Religion (for Crazy Taxi) and Garbage's first album (for Gran Turismo). What do you all listen to when you play?

I have it, I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I can't help but wish you could do some form of forward rolls though (instead of just spinning round in circles). Other than that, no complaints and it's very very fun. I've only had chance to play it for about 45mins though, thus far I've done the first set of courses and got SAAA. Haven't attempted the others yet.
I find it a tad fiddly to do the 360 spins though.
Not that it helps you much, but you can do a kind of cockpit view in the replay mode. Hold UP.
I guess whilst doing that you could pretend to be driving. Like one of those annoying kids at the arcade that don't actually put money in and sit there playing on "attract mode"

The game's soundtrack. I don't know what's wrong with it; I think it's quite good. Scotland and Canada in particular.

I have a new soccer blog The Minnow Tank. Reading it psychically kicks Sepp Blatter in the bean bag.

There's nothing wrong per se ... it's just not great. The only track I really dislike is the title screen & menus .... but the rest is kind forgettable.
It's not like you have to to play the game, but replacing okay music with fucking awesome music is preferable.
I finally got this last night in the mail as a gift, and I haven't played it since the day before the Wii launch at Nintendo World (got an S-Rank my first time out, forget which course.). I've been having a good time with it. I'm not great at it, but it's good fun.
There are some improvements I'd like to see, too.
I find the tutorial being required to be a little bothersome, mostly in the fact that if you fail, you have to reload it again. But then, I hate that stuff for any game that does it. I really wish that instead of time limits and fail, they'd just let you play until you get it right.
Two things I'd add: one is a "free" mode, where you can just drive. No time limit, maybe no other racers, or maybe with. Just driving around and having fun.
The other is a FP cam. After using the "Bumper Cam" on a replay (pain in the ass to have to hold the button down for as long as you want it), the sense of speed was increased even more, and I think it'd be a fun option to try and play that way.
As far as the actual mechanics, I just wish the trucks were a little more durable when you hit something, or something hits you. In Burnout, you can take some small hits, and get wiped out if something really slams you good. Here, it feels more like all or nothing. Brushing the side of a tree results in pretty much the same thing as taking it head-on... and when some of the other trucks nail you as well.
...and I'm wanting Burnout on Wii now. Come on, EA, you money-grubbing bastards, GIVE IT TO ME NOW! There hasn't been a Burnout on a Nintendo console since the second one!

Its definetly a really fun game. I put it in the bottom of my rental queue and it's probably my second favorite Wii game (after zelda). I just wish there was less emphasis on stars and more on chaining turbos and jumps.
Due to essay writing and D&D, I haven't been able to play this as much as I'd have liked - my friends, on the other hand, have played the everloving shit out of it, and are now on the Super Excite levels. This is the best of both worlds for me - I can play them using the top-level trucks, and on my own I can just fire up another profile to hone my skills and have fun unlocking stuff.
All the music I have on my computer is country music (left my CD collection back home), so we're trucking to Kevin Fowler at the moment.

I agree with this to an extent. I think making it star based is really good, but I think there should be more emphasis on combos, so nailing multiple tricks in a row gives you some type of star multiplier for that combo. Also, I think "Nice Landing!" should count as a trick worth 1 star. I mean hell, crashing into a TREE gives you a "nice crash" bonus, which is ridiculous if you don't get a star for landing properly. And that way landing properly can be used as part of a stunt combo if I/we ever get our wish to have combos in excite truck 2.
PS The Scotland tracks are pretty ideal for jump combos

Too bad Scotland sucks for getting stars in general. I find that there's really not all that much there so it's really hard to get stars other than from air or places where they want you to take a tree run.

Yeah to do well in those maps you need to figure out where the tree runs are. They tend to me more difficult to find and pull off in those maps. Also I often seem to get overtaken right at the last second on those maps which is really frustrating.
My longest treerun:
The 1st tree run in Nebula. That thing is like 50 trees long or something
Hm, funny. so far for me Scotland was the easiest, even without an insane amount of tree runs. They are the most challenging tracks when it comes down to racing, but I think the star goal is rather low compared to the rest (I look at you Fiji!).
Now, everyone that is bitching about the difficulty level on Super Excite or Mirror (completed all those on S) should try the gate challenge. On super difficulty of course! They expect nothing but a perfect run! 100 rings + 15 rings = 115 stars. You need 145 so you need to have 30 seconds left. If you got all the rings!!!
All I need is to finish both Super Gate Challenges with an S, but it's starting to get extremels frustrating :-(

Just played this multiplayer for the first time last night. Did anyone else notice that at times it gets extremely laggy? Someone may have mentioned that but I can't remember. I think terrain deformations cause the bulk of the lag. But even in general the game seems a little bit slower and less responsive.
i haven't really noticed the lag, but have been having a great deal of difficulty figuring out where the hell i am when playing multiplayer. Everytime i crash it take more time to reorient myself

Is anyone still playing this? I'm still having a blast.

True dat! Took me forever to finally get the hang of it. Should've been done better...
One thing I'd love is cokpit view. Yeah, the game would be hard as hell, but daaaaaaamn would it be sweet!

nothing quite like landing on my brother with an SUV and taking first right out from under (over?) him?
I dig the China soundtrack...
I'd say the soundtrack is "okay". It fits the game, but nothing more. Beeing able to choose your own music is just a better choice imho.

I assume we don't talk about the DS version then
Anyway, I hadn't heard good things about it, but I've yet to try it for myself.
