Do you have any newer Source games like Portal 2 or anything? Maybe its just a general Source engine update and it's coming through HL2? I know whenever I've had to reinstall steam, whichever Source game I install first is a massive install, but then the rest are relatively smaller. But depending on which I install any Source game could be the big one.
I spent a lot of time with Atom Zombie Smasher over the last three days. That's a fantastic little game. I think I obtained it many months ago as part of some indie games pack on Steam (definitely not the last Humble Indie Bundle, though). My first playthrough ended in failure; the second one went much better since I knew how things worked. Then I started a third playthrough last night, extending the points limit to 20000. I kept playing until I had conquered every damn territory and felt pretty satisfied with myself.

When are we likely to see our next big sale? I want to pick up a digital copy of Mass Effect 1 and 2 sometime before ME3 comes out but I don't want to pay full price since I do own the games and am only buying these so that I can give away my physical copies to a friend.

How?
Sorry, I shouldn't have said "conquered." There were definitely a few areas were I couldn't wipe out all the zeds before nightfall. But I am sure that I completed every zone!

Keep in mind that EA games might not be included in Steam Sales as often as they used to, now that EA is trying to focus on Origin. (I haven't used Origin, do they do sales too, if they do, just pay attention to them, I guess?)

EA did sales regularly even when they were on steam
Isn't there usually a halloween sale too?
Also, forgot to mention I tried out Call of Juarez Bound in Blood earlier today. I knew it was good from the demo but the full game completely surpassed my expectations. The controls are really unique with the cover mechanic having the right amount of trade off between protection and line of sight.
The story is decent enough though it doesn't feel like a full in western, but then I've only played an hour yet so it'll definitely pick up.
Luckily no massive HL2 updates on my end. Unless it's Episode 3 being snuck out to people, which would make me sad. But if it's Skynet, I'd rather not be part of the beginning of the end.
Also, it seems I missed the last GMG code applicable to Arkham City, so I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed for another to show up before it comes out. I could jump on that $38 deal, but it wouldn't kill me to hold off on loading down the credit card further at the moment, and if it's anything like Dead Island or Deus Ex, I'm hoping for it to get to the $29-35 range.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!

if they ninja episode 3 that would actually be the biggest gaming event in history
I've been trying out the demo while Red Orchestra 2 finishes downloading and I'm absolutely loving it! The gameplay is ok so far, but the narrator really works for me. It's interesting how much it's coloring the game for me since I really doubt I would've liked it much without it.

I've got TF2, Portal 1, and L4D2 as my newer Source games. L4D and TF2 constantly get 80-100 MB updates every few days for me, so I dunno if that's it or not.

Oh. Why do you say that? Why cant it be a BAD game? Then I wouldn't be so upset that I cant run it.
Who is this directed toward?
I really need to remember to quote, but the forum's been slow and glitchy about it.
I was talking about hard reset. The demo ran absolutely awfully for me. So I was KINDA hoping it would be bad, so I wouldn't be so bummed about not being able to run it. Kinda. It's great that it is a good game though.

Yeah, it's very solid. Not incredible, but something worth playing if it's on sale. Looks great when a chain of explosions go off.
So it seems the white beginner deck in the Magic game pretty much rolls over all the other decks effortlessly. Everything is cheap, it has great combos and even a decent amount of removels. I don't even know why they want me to unlock the other decks!
You'll find that the difficulty curve is wildly inconsistent for the whole game. That isn't to say it isn't fun, it's a lot of fun when you chance a close battle, but slamming into a difficult cliff-face and going through each deck to see which one is key to winning isn't much fun.
Hate to have to ask, but would anyone be willing to gift me Magic 2012? My Xbox Live account got hacked and someone bought a shitton of Xbox Live points under my account, so I don't really want to spend too much money until those charges get reversed (Poor college student and all). I'll gift whoever does it back any $5 game of their choice in a couple days/whenever they see a game on sale they want or something.
Also, forgot to mention I tried out Call of Juarez Bound in Blood earlier today. I knew it was good from the demo but the full game completely surpassed my expectations. The controls are really unique with the cover mechanic having the right amount of trade off between protection and line of sight.

Yeah, Bound in Blood is a lot of fun. I think it's also the only FPS game I've ever played that has an area set during the American Civil War. I enjoyed it a lot more than the first one, and I'm sad that the new one is apparently crap.

Reminded now of the Darkest of Days demo which took place in Battle of Antietam, using a shitty muzzleloader. Except, by the end of it, you were mowing down Confederate troops with a fully automatic assault rifle. Kind of weird.
So, we're getting a week of Paradox sales. Does anyone know how good Penumbra is? And are either of the Mount & Blade games besides Warband worth getting?

This is the second 3+ GB update I've gotten for HL2 in the past week. It's crazy.

Was kind of pissed off about that.
That's odd.

Origin: Galedrid - Nintendo: Galedrid/3222-6858-1045
Blizzard: Galedrid#1367 - FFXIV: Galedrid Kingshand
Other than those big updates on Dead Air, I haven't had any big L4D2 updates.
When those last two updates occurred, I downloaded 13gb and 9gb respectively for some reason.
So yeah, what the fuck.
I don't remember the exact number, but there is no way I downloaded more than 1 gb. Current L4D2 Folder: 12.2 Gbs
I don't have HL2 installed.
If I was getting multiple 3+ gig downloads for games I don't play, I would do that.
