Eh thornmail is great with a warmogs or something. I had a game as Trist and it came to the point where if I killed someone on their team I would literally lose 40-50% of my hp from thornmail reflections in the process. That shit hurts when you're already top prority for their carries/assassins.

so he'd ignore the damage recoil on thornmail just like everyone else, but hate the super cheap 100 armor like everyone else
I've found thornmail to be less and less useful over time; for tanks both Randuins and Frozen Heart are better buys. I still think it's a decent pick up for carries struggling with super crit auto attackers, but it also feels like by the time you realize you need one and buy it, its passive is already of marginal utility.
The other day me and some friends were doing premade 5's and had an epic game that ended with an undead yorick and an exploding kog causing a double ace while we all sat and watched the nexus go down to creeps.

Top was feeding Vayne. I mean, A LOT. Like... 10 kills in 15 minutes a lot.
I will note that Thornmail is kind of fun to buy against someone like GP though, since his Parley will proc its passive. Again, thornmail loses most of the passive's utility as the game goes on, but you can surprise him early when he comes at you just after completing his first IE.

Thornmail should be only built on two heroes: Rammus and Malphite.
that's kind of not true at all though
get it if you need to mitigate tons of physical damage and frozen heart/randuin's don't make sense in the current situation
rammus gets 25 AD out of it, which is about 1k worth of stat. that's pretty good! but if he's playing against an all mage team he won't live long enough to attack or taunt or

If you end up as Rammus against a full magic team you a) are doing blind pick or b) have bigger problems since you picked Rammus against a full magic team.
almost all of kog's damage is magic. he hits fast but it only does 100 physical damage a hit
thornmail isn't any good anyway. you want an ad counter? get a frozen heart or randuin's.
Thornmail is best when Ashe/Vayne/Caitlyn have hit that status where you turn into goo instantly as a tank. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY HAVE A LAST WHISPER. If you have a lot of health they will almost ALWAYS kill themselves on you. I have recorded games where I've been able to turn the fight around when their AD carry has to deal with me and simply kills themselves due to the passive.
I cannot take this shit anymore. I haven't won a single game of SR since dominion went live. The enemy team is dead. You are standing outside mid inhib turret. You have 50 seconds:
A- drop tower, inhib, towers, nexus, WIN THE GAME
B- hurp herp baron guys baron, run off to baron (3 of you) fail to kill him. Drop no towers. Lose game 15 minutes later.

Wukong and Xin Zhao feed Nidalee TO THE MAX.
How does this happen?
Nidalee carries their team to victory.
Oh, and I played pretty badly too, but not as badly as 60% of my team.
I'm going phage, CD boots, brutalizer, and then whatever the game dictates.

It's odd but from previous variations I've tried on her, I think it will work well. The progression goes Farmer/Ganker -> Tanky DPS -> Hard AD Carry (if the game goes long).

I would assume long distance spears had something to do with it. Some people don't get that you can't stand around when in lane against her, a good Nid will bust your ass every time.

There is nothing more glorious than being Nidalee and knowing certain people on the enemy team either forgot you exist or just are not paying attention to spears at all.
i really like renekton and have been playing him in summoners rift and crushing souls
but whenever I try to play him in dominion I end up just being fairly meh. like not feeding but, eh, traded kills. i feel like i'd have way more success with riven in dom t.t

If there's one champion whom Thornmail is especially overrated on, it's Galio. It's basically all the drawbacks of having a thornmail, only you think it's viable because you got an AoE taunt.

Well, she can do that too, but let her build morello's and a deathcap and she will just hold a point or force you off one.
Honestly, this discussion is silly. Thornmail is good vs. AD heavy teams with low life steal, and other than that, Randuin's is probably better, esp. because it has Warden's Mail or Heart as midway items.

ROA is an excellent item because it doesnt lose that wonderful passive of gaining health/mana on level.
