Throwing up the Adam Fenix + Infected Omen now (Thanks Nocren for verifying). I originally was going to sell the second controller that came with the system to recoup the extra cost, but after selling all this DLC I'll nearly come out ahead already.
Been checking out the 3D in multiplayer so far. Nice that it is available in all the modes. It seems to be pretty well implemented. The only mistake with it I've found so far is that when you shoot a Flamer in the can and a stream of fire comes out, the stream appears to be far in the background regardless of the Flamers location.

in the grim darkness of the far future, preordering games has become a money making scheme. nerds prey on even bigger nerds, using their own obsession against them. what can men do against such reckless goosery?
this game is good. I'm not very far in, getting tired of fighting lambent. it's like fighting a bunch of big red video game barrels. I'm sure the Locust will probably be back pretty soon, though.
A possibility. I just kinda wish I'd bought one when I was in the US. I would have got a cheap controller, IO codes and at that point Adam Fenix as well because whoops, and then could have sold my Adam code that came in-box.

err why didn't my Beta flaming weapon unlock skins transfer over into retail??
check and see if it got corrupted, if so that sucks.
it was cool to see upon loading up the game all the unlocks and challenges pop up from the beta/achievements
So anybody know about the Gears season pass? It's 2400pts, so that's something like $30 for how many maps/characters? I know that the word around the net is 4 "packs" of DLC, but I kind of wonder how those packs break down. Any info?

Due to what I imagine is extreme luck on my part, in a single game I popped the Lambency achievement. I honestly thought I would never get Lambency, especially not this early.

I got it in my first match. Isn't it a viral achievement?

The first DLC will hve 2 characters skins dont know what else though
Beat'd after playing for about 4 hours last night, then about 7-8 today. Wow. Just wow.
I've always had fun with the series, don't get me wrong. But I think Gears 3 fixed pretty much every issue I have ever had with it. The writing is GOOD and the color palatte is vibrant and the environments are beautiful and it really does feel like a proper conclusion! That NEVER happens! Also really liked how it added some shades of grey to the COG/Locust-- aside from them trying to kill you all the time, their motivations are pretty sympathetic X) Only REAL issue is that while I really liked the logical way each level fed into the next and the clear, overarching sense of goal and progression, it didn't REALLY have a straight-up HOLY FUCK moment like, say, riding a Brumak Clayton Carmine being freaking fantastic
(okay, some threads were left hanging, but at least then it's not like MGS4, where EVERY POSSIBLE GODDAMN QUESTION MUST BE ANSWERED REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT IT NEEDS TO (or, in fact, people WANTED to know).
I DID actually like Marcus here, or at least he felt more relatable and reacted in a HUMAN WAY to alot of the stuff that happened. And MAN, I never thought I would really like Cole, but Act 1 really changed my perception of him. Baird of course, was reliably snarky the whole way through, which is fine with me
Also loving alot of the little touches, like how you ACTUALLY REV UP the lancer rather than it just raises, magically revved like in the last 2 games, or that you can sprint during the walking-while-touching-your-ear parts (FINALLY) or that even while using a lancer, you'll just do a quick melee against the tiny explodey ones rather than having to switch to something else (FINALLY FINALLY)
I... was kind of disappointed with how much they oversold the 'Pulp-Fiction-style-separate-timelines-with-different-groups' angle, though. Epic made a big deal about how OHHH YOU SEE THE SAME EVENT FROM DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES AND TIMELINES START TO CONVERGE AND IT'S ALL SUPERCOOL... and then they toss it aside after Act 1.
But yeah, overall, great game, and TONS of stuff-- like, Mortal Kombat-level tons of stuff. Definitely worth 60 bucks.

I'm actually betting their will be different viewpoints for DLC. There's an option in the menu for DLC campaign missions.
Haven't even tried horde or beast yet, was busy playing execution when I was by myself and TDM when I was with friends . All hail the Lancer/Gnasher combo!. I also played enough to know that I would be playing the MP for some time so I went ahead and got the pass. Hopefully the selection of maps ( don't much care about anything else) has as much detail and effort put into them as the others. Plus Liquid metal is a fun skin , it makes the enemy team focus on doing nothing but killing me to take me guns.
If anyone wants to play execution with an average player look for me in the meta tag and invite me. If I don't accept it just means im with friends atm or playing singleplayer.
Game is really fun. Played mostly horde with friends and it rocks. Lots of stuff unlocks, which is neat. Got one of those weapons skins (haze) and IMO the ones you get in-game are better. Not gonna spend any more on those.
Now I just need to finish gears 2.

Gotta say, love the colors in this one. I think I've played on all the maps in one mode or another.... (except maybe Overpass? Whatever it's called.) and I love how each one looks and feels different.
Hotel has the nice indoor/outdoor areas.
Drydock actually looks like it's namesake.
Trenches feels like something from WW1.
Sandbar has a nice coastal theme.
Old Town is freakin' awesome.
Checkout is also great.

to everybody who replied
on first time bootup it turns out the fetch feature is slightly... weird. If you specify your hard drive again in settings OR just relaunch the game and choose the HD it'll rescan and them boom all my beta stuff appeared. Super happy because it almost made me real sad
also apparently i somehow missed playing in week 3 of the beta and didn't get one of the flame skins

So the Vulcan is fucking hilariously fun to use. Everyone loves a crank-fed portable GAU-8.
So, even though I never dug Gears when I played it back in '06, all this talk of Gears 3 really gave me the urge to try it again and then give Gears 2 and 3 a try as well (though 3 might have to wait, I'm borrowing the first two from a friend)
I do remember one of my complaints now that I'm playing it, and I have to ask if it improves in Gears 2: do enemies react at all to being shot in the face? It's kind of weird but it almost feels like I can't tell if I'm aiming correctly or not, and things take a long time to die. Gets kind of frustrating.

Beta data is a save file. Did you swap 360s or format/delete the HDD?

And Versus mode still sucks. Thankfully the campaign and the Horde and Beast modes are so fun.
YOOOOOOOOO
I haven't touched anything else yet and I'm having a blast.
Sucks that it's so short though. I really hope they expand on it.
I would especially love a version that included human players playing as the COG.
