If you see someone above rank 20 you'll get to know the blam blam blam sound of a gpm sniper rifle. I swear to god its one of the more obnoxious weapons in the game. Even worse so when people keep accidentally voting the docks and people throw themselves into sniper scopes.

anyways i hit a winner on a scratch ticket the other day, decided to use some of it to buy the special edition. the box was huuuuuge, and it comes with some pretty neat stuff. the statue looks a bit off, but the lithographs and keychain are cool. DLing my skins and soundtrack now. excited to use old skool max online.

FFA can be fun though, it just means you have to be really really active and watching your back. Though I recommend not using any of the illusion bursts since they are useless.

Yeah, I have my "street kid" build. Tarus+1911, Lucky coin (or sneakers), Big Dog. I usually use this for an entire DM game or the first couple of rounds of gang war. I do well enough.
Also, no one answered my question of when does the SP end on Disc 1? I just finished chapter 5.
Not too spoilery, but if Max no longer has hair in the current game time, you are on the second disc.
i felt this was done on purpose, and it probably was. disc 1 even has hairy max and disc 2 bruce willis max on the front of them.
Oh it was done on purpose for sure. Its also where the story takes a turn. It was sort of brilliant to do for a game on two discs. Well two discs for the 360.

I do like how James McCaffrey is the voice over for multiplayer. Having played my fair share of ME 3 multi its really boring generic white guy is the voice there, especially with Gears of War 3 having Evil Dr. Chakwas and fucking Murdock from the A-Team!

Also I like how Gang War is set up as both a kind of multiplayer story mode with the news report/conversations between rounds and as a gametype itself.
Not to mention I love how Paynekiller is set up as well. Nice change to the usual juggernaut formula.
gang war is easily one of the best mutliplayer modes i've played in a while, i love how the end is still anyone's game. had a match where it came down to the last point even though they won all 4 beforehand.

I agree, I love the showdown tiebreakers, had a game where the score ended up 65-66 at showdown after 4 awesome modes.
Gotta say, not loving actually PLAYING the game. Everything else, the story and style and character, great. Cool. Well fucking done. But playing? It's like Uncharted 2's shooting if Drake could take 3 bullets before dying. I duck behind cover like a goddamn pussy because if I try to fly like a god, Max's bitch ass gets put DOWN. I'll finish it because I'm liking the Man on Fire inspired story and editing, but not for the actual gameplay, that's for damn sure. Multiplayer could be better, I mean, that's all anyone is really talking about here, but damned if I'll ever know, because I've got neither the time nor the inclination to play competitive multi these days.

Because I never even played any of the Max Payne games, but if the single player is at least decend and the multiplayer fun, then I might get it sometime into the future when it's on sale maybe. But that's just a consideration.

You just need to use cover to spot your enemies better and then bring the pain. Its a hard game, but its not a really unfair one they give you all the tools to finish a fight. Also the complaints about needing cover are silly because you used cover in the first 2 payne games you just didn't have a button/ability to get into it.

See, I'll disagree there. I loaded up MP2 the week before 3 was out, try to catch up. Yes, you would stand behind pillars to absorb bullets but you know what you did after that? Dove through the air, filling it with lead like a badass. In 3, I don't do that unless it's like 2 dudes, otherwise I'll go through a pill or two, which is a waste, because pills are not plentiful. You couldn't swing a dead metaphor without picking up pills in 2. Which led to you diving around rooms, doing spin reloads, slo mo capping everyone. It's structurally different. MP3 is designed around cover, around you shooting dudes while ducked behind cover and ok, that's fine, but I don't think it feels particularly fun or interesting.
In all honesty, this feels like a weird spin off of Kane and Lynch 2. Some cutscene style, some cover based gameplay. K&L 2, I liked, but didn't love. The mechanics were FINE, and that's about it. MP3's are better, but not but a huge amount more.
But, hey, I'm not here to discourage anyone. I just feel a little frustrated playing it and think it could've been a lot more fun and less bullshitty.
