I don't think this is entirely addressed in the game Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Aside from his four limbs and head, what parts of Adam are still human?
Chest, abs, nipples... private region? The poor guy loses his girlfriend in the first two minutes of the game and wakes up more machine than man. So figuring this out might explain to what degree he is able to go toe to toe with the game's bosses.
