So the other survivors live, presumably.
During the last fight, White calls in the order to cleanse the island of all life/unlife. The radio is just PR. They aren't going to say "Oh hey we nuked this island resort cause stuff got a little out of hand"

But yeah, last boss fight was bad. I had infinite flaming infected spawning behind me. As Xian..... I died more there than at any other point in the game. Zed's Demise is still the best though.

I happened to have a fury charged, and he went down rght next to the plane before he could even spawn an infected.

Hey, if anyone wants to add me, my steam id is dissociater. I'd be down to starting a new game from scratch if anyone wants to start a new character. Or alternatively, I have a Sam B about to start the prison.

I think the main place I'm finding I feel I'm grinding so far is the police station, and that might be due to not progressing one quest line far enough to do two at once.

Went there to pick up you know who, then again for some data (oh look, I'm back at the chief's computer) and then again for some guy's radio codes and OH LOOK HI TO YOU CHIEF'S OFFICE! It felts pretty blatantly that they just wanted me to go through the whole thing 2-3 times and came up with reasons to make it happen.

The only quests I find I'm really not all that big a fan of are those that are entirely unmarked on the map. At least Maggie shows up in a place you're going to go anyway, but that guy's brother can get fucked until I bother to look up where he's supposed to be and wander over there, and that's looking even less likely than me going and fetching that bitch's camera. I swear Amanda, you yell GO at me one more time, and I'm going to find it, take a giant shit in it and then throw it deeper into the jungle.

First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!

Once, I kicked an walker dead in the chest at the resort. I kicked it so hard He flew and bounced off an umbrella, which I thought was hilarious, till I looked down and saw his legs were still standing there in place. Wish I had a screenshot.

Man... Dead Island is a fun game, it really is...
    but its frustrating me.

Decided I just wanted to finish it, so I was ignoring side quests in the jungle. Went to go recover the guns and ammo for Kintaro or whatever, and when I get there I'm handling the mans pretty well, until more spawn and flank me. Holy Shit! Ok...ok I got this. Then more spawn... Jesus fuck... ok. Oh I died. Oop... died again. Almost died again! but its ok, I got this no-wtf I died? Oh sweet, now Infected are spawning... awesome.

I struggled with this part as well. The way i delt with it was to take cover at a wide distance and pick them off, once you get flanked sprint into the middle of the water, the undead will rise and take out most of your flankers, just keep sprinting to the jungle then turn and pick of anyone following you specificly...Like you i died like 6 times here, quit before finishing the quest. It's easier the second time for some reason...

Predictably, the game spawned me in the police station again. I called shenanigans, skipped all the sidequests, and carried on to the jungle and act 3. Does anyone know if the devs will try to patch the game into shape or are they done with it?

Edit: Oh yeah, I shot one of the runner zombos right in the gut when she came at me. She was violently jerked backwards and just kept going. It was like she had been shot out of a cannon. God knows where she landed.

The radio broadcast at the end is obviously goosery. Noone is sending in humanitarian aid, the very best the survivors could hope for would be to be evacuated by air to an isolated location for observation before the island was bombed. They clearly wouldn't care about these people considering they abandoned them to die when the virus erupted, and deliberately kept the military back to enforce a quarantine rather than moving in to help the survivors.

I think the best easy thing would have been that you get on the chopper and have to choose which major remaining area to help, since you can't help them all. Lighthouse, lifeguards, village, or town. Then you have your final fight in that area as you evacuate them, and the people you don't help call you as you are flying to the other area to beg you for help because they are being slaughtered by super infected. But of course, they don't fit on the chopper.

so here is my question/complaint about the last act/end of the game
After everything they set up with Col. White. He magically knew you were immune from the prison island, his whole story that sounded like a giant set up to lure you to the prison. And it ends up he IS telling the truth and his wife is infected and he is trying to save her and he doesnt have any apprent involvement with the virus. Why the fuck does he then gas you in the elevator and steal the antidote? He has room in his chopper, we brought the antidote i dont get the random backstabbing at the end.

Not only did he magically know that, there are several moments during the game in act 2 and 3 where, after you finish a quest, he'll begin talking to you over a nearby radio telling you what to do next. This all despite no one telling him, or using the radio at the time. It's like he has the whole island bugged.

I viewed it as being that he saw you get attacked and bitten and just wake up rather than being infected. And, that he could hack all the security cameras. Also, he was telepathic I guess ;)

Look i didn't buy the game for it's storyline and I loved this game, but there are just so many quirks with the story it's like they just kinda threw it on at the end.
or how about when you need to go to the hotel to use the raido to talk to Col. White and you are told that the guy sent to fix the radio has been missing for 2 days. You get there and smashcut you are talking to Col. white with the guy who was missing for 2 days just standing there in the cutscene. [/spolier]

I've just started reading the book. It's not the best writing I've ever read but it's pretty good. I'm not far into it so I can't vouch for the accuracy of the book compared to the game.

    Potential early book and end game spoilers;
According to the book Purna, Sam B and Logan were given all expense paid trips to Banoi due to a blood donation. Considering all three of them are immune that seems suspicious, suggesting a motive for having those three on the island. It is possible that White knew that they were immune before the infection even broke out. The fact that Xian Mei is also immune is either a coincidence or the Chinese are involved.

That was kinda the point where I felt that things were being cut that made the story make less sense. Clearly there was supposed to be some kind of 'defend the repairman on the roof' mission there, which they didn't finish coding. If you're just going to hard cut to it, why even tell me to go to the hotel? Just have Sinamoi say "Good news mate! Jimmy got the radio fixed up and there's someone who wants to talk to you!"

Yeah, it was pretty clear that story was probably tertiary or so. It was fine, but it was obvious that they just didn't have time to finish all of it. Seeing as that was cut, there is probably more later that was also cut that would have made the whole thing make some sense. Also, they probably would've mentioned Sinamoi and the Lighthouse crew again. Still fun, but don't play for the story. It's just like I figured out that the quests are basically to show off their set pieces. It doesn't make it any less fun, just don't play for the story.

The funniest thing about the "story" in this game, despite all the plot issues, is that in some of the houses you can see (but can't interact with) books called Dead Island: a True Story. Its like some Spaceballs shit when they the book out before the game is!

No, theres an entrince from the street, once you have cleared it once. It'll put you in the parking garage when you enter. You get some side quests that will take you in through there.

Do I really have to go through the sewers to get to the police station again? I've really had enough of them. But the Pride mod just seems so good.

I checked the fast travel location when I was in the station, but I can't fast travel there. :(

No, theres an entrince from the street, once you have cleared it once. It'll put you in the parking garage when you enter. You get some side quests that will take you in through there.

really? shit good to know. I was going in through the really close manhole.

Man, I spent way too much time playing this weekend. The car advice totally improved things and the game is a blast. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned that getting to the bottom of each skill tree gets you 10 bonus points. Can anyone actually confirm this?
