How do I find out if an Xbox360 game is region free? SOLVED

I was recently given a US xbox360, and am in Australia, and was wondering if there was a way to find out which games are region locked and which aren't? Borrowing a few games from a mate, Dead Space was region locked yet Mass Effect was not, however on the back of both boxes both claimed to be for Australia only.
I attempted to find a site that might list which games are region free, but came up short - those which I could find are woefully out of date. Is there anyone else in this predicament that has worked out a solution? I'd happily import games if that's what I have to do, but that somewhat deters an impulse buying (arguably not exactly a bad thing) and also means borrowing games can end up being a waste of time.
