    So much for this experiment.
Sony announced today that it will end PSP's comic download service at the end of September. The "comic" tab will no longer be accessible from the PlayStation Store interface after that time.

Ahead of the September closure, Sony will stop adding new content to the service on March 15.

Those who purchased comic content from PlayStation Store will be able to continue redownloading their content through the end of this year. Sony will also keep the Comic Reader app available for download through the end of the year.

Pro: Discounts on games and DLC and stuff.
Con: You have to pay for a subscription.
Pro: Occasionally you can get a game for free.
Con: If you unsubscribe, you no longer have access to games you got for free.

I should mention that I don't have PS+. Maybe there's more to it.

The auto-send your save files to the cloud is a nice feature.

Plus, it's like what, $50 a year I think, you'll make that back in the free games.

I have been enjoying it anyway.

Well, I got both the Sam and Max season and the Back to the Future games for free, that's like $30 right there.

Scroll up to the recent update post (page 13), it has some representitive discounts in there, looks like about 20% ish.

They had the $70 or $80 Capcom Bundle on sale for $12 for PS+ users. So yeah, it can pay for itself.

On your PSP if you hit New Releases on the PSN Store and then Special Offers it shows all the games discounted in the most recent update.

I'm also interested in the Daxter/Secret Agent Clank Dual-Pack but it seems to be UMD-only as I can't find it on the PSN store.

Just a heads-up, but you can buy 1 year codes off eBay for around 30-35 bucks. The seller will just email you the code so that's a decent savings.

And the ps3 comes with a free month of PS+ in the box

Regarding PS+, there's also 150mb of cloud storage for games saves, which is something I've found very useful after a recent hard drive failure.
I know 150mbs doesn't sound like much, but I have saves for nearly 30 games in the cloud and still have 60mb free.

edit: ForceVoid beat me to the cloud save thing.

Typically, the big PSN sales (Spring Sale, Fall Sale, 12 for '12, etc.) are 30% off for regular PSN users and 50% off for PSN+ users. But yeah, discounts on games, free games (minis, PSOne games, some of the crappier PSN titles, and sometimes some good ones as well like Back To The Future), cloud saves, auto trophy syncing, it's a pretty good package.

I'd recommend waiting for a particular deal to tickle your fancy before signing up though. There's no real reason to have it right away. That, or look for a deal on the PSN+ cards.

Welcome to like six months ago, when they announced that they'd be closing down the US and EU comic stores.

There's a more than good chance they'll be relaunching the comic store sometime this year but for PS3 and Vita instead.

Yeah, that's not a good idea. Just copy them off and either nest them in a named folder or create a text file with the default and real names. Or just get a Vita and rejoice in Mac support.

You can download Media Go and take a look at the PSP store but no, for some dumb reason there's no way of even looking at the PS3 store online.

I guess this is the PS thread?

OK, so! I've been saving for a Vita, but realized PS3's are actually pretty cheap now in comparison (£199 for the PS3, £279 for the 3G Vita) and I'd be better off getting one of those + some games than getting the Vita and nothing to play on it.

So gimme some details on the PS3. I had a few weeks experience when a flatmate had one, but that was in 2007, so let's say I know nothing about em. :P

I'm gonna buy new, cause I've got a thing about preowned consoles. Given I have a 250gb 360 as my main console, and I've only ever got about a quarter of it full, so I'm fine with the 160gb model PS3 I think.

I'm looking at the FFXIII-2 bundle, cause I've heard great things about that game, and I even (sorta) liked XIII anyway, so. Just one thing; cause obviously I can't transfer my XIII save from the 360, can I download one off GFAQs and use it as my 'old' XIII save? How do PS3 saves work, cause on the 360 they're tied to accounts and you can't really use other people's like that.

Do PSN games ever go on sale, or am I OK going down the list of PSone Classics and grabbing everything I want all in one go?

Also, there a list of good PS3 exclusives? I know Infamous and Uncharted are supposed to be great, but what else?

    Oh brilliant

It is possible to copy over save games from another PS3/account, but the save will have to be from the same region in my experience.
It doesn't work for all games though, some are locked to a specific console.

There are frequent sales on the store, so it's usually worth waiting a while for something to drop in price.

As for exclusives, Uncharted, Infamous, LittleBigPlanet, Yakuza, MGS4, God of War 3 and Demon's Souls are a good start as far as I'm concerned.
And there's a good list of PSN games worth checking out at the start of the thread.

I kick around the idea of getting a PS3 occasionally, most likely when it hits the $149 price point.

But I'll likely never get around to it. Between the three handhelds and two consoles I'm supporting now I've more games than I've got time to play 'em.

My PC backlog is massive. But I'm still gonna get it, otherwise I'll get a Vita at launch and be mad about it being full price.

Looks like a bunch of the PSone Classics I want aren't available on the PAL PSN. Is there anything stopping me from using a US or JP account and using those PSN stores? And if I am stuck with just one, which should I go for - US, JP or my default PAL?

I know the Vita's locked to one account / region, so I figure I better pick whichever PSN region has the most stuff I want and stick with it.

Oh, also, does the 160gb come with a Sixaxis, or a Dualshock?

You'd have to check the box but I'd assume that all new consoles come with a Dualshock.

If you can get ahold of some US PSN codes you shouldn't have a problem. I have a US account but I've only used it for demos / betas. You aren't restricted to one PSN account per console, not sure if there is a max (I have 4).
