I just finished watching (most of) x-men first class on dvd. I believe it's safe to say, the move was horrible, even though it was reviewed as a work of art by critics. The movie had almost funny scenes in it (the breaking of glass x 3 at the original hq), and was balanced by a couple gruesome scenes that were so out of place, I felt like I was stabbed in the back for watching.
It's safe to say, that movie which I was told was great, actually sucked. Are there any others out there that were high pedigree but sunk like a rock?
Like, literally hilarious in a number of unintentional ways.
My favorite is how, when Lois and her mute son are locked in a room that's sealed with some kind of reinforced steel door, Lois tries to break out by attacking the door with a rolling pin.
Also, Iron Man 2 was amusing, but definitely nowhere near the precedent the first one set. I mean, it had some fun action and such, but it just never got very compelling, or exciting. And also the entire film is building up to this huge deal fight between Iron Man and Whiplash (I think was his supervillain name) and then the whole fight lasts maybe two minutes. Maybe.
I mean, the fight was Iron Monger was at least ten, and it's not really obviously going to happen.
if that ending hadn't been so criminally stupid this would I would have liked this movie
but the ridiculousness of it
it changed the style of the entire movie retroactively, from one based on really well-crafted tricks and schemes to one based on
secret twins and matter replication teleportation devices
and I get that those things were hinted at--it just would have been more satisfying if what seemed to be these more outlandish solutions were actually the results of planning and scheming
especially since the men were trick-designers
I get that the themes of the film--sacrifice, and absolute devotion to the craft--were expressed with the potentially being the one to die in the tank, and living a double life with the secret twin, and cutting off the finger and all that
I just would have preferred, in a movie about the lengths to which they go to imitate magic, there had been a less "magical" solution
a sudden revelation of a twin, and a cloner/teleporter, really seems more like magic than artifice
Kick Ass is a damn shame because it starts as a deconstruction and then basically becomes what it is deconstructing. Yeah, not buying the whole eight-year-old murder tyke thing.

i would like to nominate...superman returns
are you CRAZY
what about that time he lifted that thing
that was the whole movie
We are in agreement. Although I find it funny in some sense, his style worked well for that Bad Lieutenant of Port Call (or whatever) movie.
I liked the coma rape
It's the only Tarantino movie I enjoyed.
The Last Airbender was better than the cartoon

You didn't like FIRST CLASS are you CRAZY
I found it to be fun.
Those were all movies that I enjoyed.
This will be here until I receive an apology or Weedlordvegeta get any consequences for being a bully
I agree with this, with the notable exception of everything with Nic Cage in it.
It felt like they thought the first move worked best when they did off the cuff comments.
So they did that the entire movie.
Which did not work.
Satans..... hints.....
that movie is amazing
really?
I thought it was easily the weakest of anything he's ever directed
but then I didn't see Grindhouse, so
Cause that's mostly what i see here.
In isolation, a good movie. Compared to its relatives, noticeably less good.
I watched this again recently and I decided

ROBOT ROLL CALL
you got the joke
also how'd you do last night
yeah! man, exactly
when, for me, the two best things that happen in the movie are
"next time you ride with me"
and the arm handing him the heart
