Once I figure out an enemies weakness they are all pretty simple. Skulltullas are the easiest to me! I fear the bats more than those guys, and that's only because they can kind of suprise you from off camera.
However I always get ripped up when there are multiple Beamos targeting me. F#!$ those guys...
Also two Dark Lizalfos are kind of frustrating if you are trying to hit one and the other is attacking. But once one is gone it's back to business as usual. I just imagined Dark Souls with motion controls (next Move game?!).

I'm slightly (but only slightly) amazed at everyone being able to reference enemies by name off-hand. To me, everything was just "the spiders" or "electro-dudes" or whatever.
... The hell? The last battle with Ghirahim is basically that - remember when he shoots the red things at you? You can bat them back. Also, the boss on top of Levias is this as well.

Same here!
Maybe it's because I only started playing Zelda games in English a few years ago, but to me the enemies are still just "bats" and "spiders" even though by now I know they're keese and skulltulla. The whole Call a Rabbit a Smeerp thing is silly anyway.
Same with the boss names..safe for a few OoT bosses I don't know the names of any of them.
But maybe that's just because my memory in general sucks.

It helps that nearly all of them have been recurring enemies for the last decade and a half or so.
Bokoblins are basically the only new name, and they're really just some jumped up moblins which have been in for forever.
Everything else is exactly an old enemy, a twist on the basic concept (Bemos, Armos), or a stupid frog thing.

Trippy and informative! Perhaps the most bizarre Nintendo commercial to advertise for one of their games (not in Japan) and that's counting the other commercial with the rapping nerds.
I did the first third of dungeon three with one-quarter of a heart left, so I pretty much learned to perfect my horizontal strikes and stabs on the Beamos.
Wind Waker has miniblins (the little guys who me and my friends call DA-NANTS), bokoblins (the spindly weak looking goblins with swords), and moblins (the big pig faced ones with spears).
I can't blame anyone for not knowing the enemy names in The Wind Waker. I'm fairly sure the Nintendo Gallery and the Tingle Tuner are the only things that will tell them to you.

Just started and I'm on the part with the sailcloth.
Jesus is this irritating. Do we really need to get the same vague 4 pages of instructions every time? Gets a little tedious after number 10, boys. How about some decent fucking directions instead? Thanks.

It gets that way after a few bounces!
Or if you're right up next to him when he does that.
THAT was exciting.

Just starting the second dungeon. Of all the enemies in the game, the bokoblins are still giving me the most trouble. It doesn't matter what side they are blocking on, my attacks are ALWAYS blocked even if I swing on their open side.
Stalfos battle was the most fun, though a bit too easy. He hardly attempted to attack.

Didn't think the last dungeon was the last dungeon... whoops.
I'll talk more about it later, but I the first thing I want to say is I feel like I had 1 maybe 2 more dungeons coming my way.
Why?
Your collection screen was completely full. What else did you expect?
I suppose you could've gotten a mirror shield, but that'd be dependent upon pouch slots. None of the main dungeon treasures went in your pouch because it's possible to be full of other items or not have a critical item with you.
Well I kind of gave the Ghirahim Fight as the boss of the 7th dungeon, since it didn't have one.
But it just didn't feel right not having a final dungeon with a really intense lead up. I guess you could say LttP did the same thing.
The Demise fight was insanely easy. I got it my first try and only lost 2 hearts the whole fight. Meanwhile the Ghirahim fight took me 3 GameOvers worth of attempts. The part where you have to break through his giant sword was quite the challenge.
It just really comes down to the 7th dungeon not feeling very endgame. Especially because that entire dungeon was very platformer and not very action/adventure.
I don't mean to whine very much. I absolutely love the game, I think it is 2nd to LttP as my personal favorite. I was a huge fan of the story elements, as well as all the combat inventions.
About the collection screen though, I don't remember it being full. I can't remember what it was, but there was something shaped like a hexagon just above the Song of the Hero that I don't remember being full of anything. I remember seeing the Triforce take over the spot that the map pieces went, but that's it.
On an entirely different note, something about Ghirahim very related to the end game:
So was he an equivalent to Fi? Because that's what I'm taking away from this. I hope to see a Dark Master Sword make an appearance again. Hell, I hope to see a future Zelda game involve a much more plot filled Dark Link with that Dark Master Sword that Demise had/that Ghirahim was.

Kinda spoilerish.
And then they dump 3 Stalfos at the same time.
Bokoblins. There was a post here that should really go to the OP (which tells me SS will be released in two months!) regarding them. Try just having your shield out and then attempt a horizontal slash (not a diagonal one!) instead of trying to fake 'em out. Or just wait for a Shield Bash.

Ha, I had the exact opposite experience here.
My shield broke and I burned three fairies super quickly and died and I reloaded and went back to town and fully upgraded a second shield to take with me and then one still broke but I finally won.
Of course I never figured out that I could skyward strike. Fi told me I couldn't every time I scanned the boss, so I didn't bother trying.

That was the
emblem jewel that you put in the statue's eye to unlock the last dungeon.

Heh, I was so happy when I got that. I'd been walking past that damn one-eyed statue all game. Every time I'd be like: "I KNOW YOU'RE NOT WHAT YOU SEEM. REVEAL YOUR SECRETS TO ME, BIRD STATUE!"
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

Ditto, I had some extreme difficulty
In the second part of the Demise fight. I'd get through the first part with like 4 hearts and he'd kill me with his own Skyward Strike before I could charge mine. Took me four tries before I just went up to Skyloft and bought 4 red potions, barely managing to beat him. I had the Hylian shield, but I am absolutely terrible at blocking because I relied so heavily on backflips which screwed me with his attack timings.
On the other hand I beat Ghirahim fairly easily. He was tough, but not especially dangerous. It helped that I picked up on his gimmick pretty quickly and just relentlessly pushed the attack which his slow, armored form couldn't really do much about. Being in that kind of mindset also made me take a lot of stupid risks against Demise I think, which is why I needed the damn potions.

Fi actually cheapened my bad ass run. I never had to rely on her until my 2nd Demise run when she said why don't just try the lightning thing. I felt like I had used a Mario Guide or something because he died and I never even had to use my 3 Potions.
I had 9 heart containers going into the last fight because after all I have the Triforce of Courage.
I managed to beat Ghirahim only using one red potion. Then Demise killed me as soon as the lightning started. I hadn't actually experimented much with the shield parry timing; I had the Hylian shield luckily but that lightning sword does a lot of damage.
I barely managed to kill Demise on my second try with three red potions and a fairy.

Even having upgraded the adventure pouch to its maximum capacity I'm still having a hard time deciding which items to take with me.
For much of the game I had both a wooden and metal shield, even though I didn't bother switching between them.
Toward the end I rolled with one shield, only three bottles, two quivers and two medals.

They do stack!
My question is if those two medals detract from the number of heart pieces.
In other words, if you get all the heart pieces will you still be two hearts short of the total from not having the medals?
Trippy and informative! Perhaps the most bizarre Nintendo commercial to advertise for one of their games (not in Japan) and that's counting the other commercial with the rapping nerds.
They do. You can only have a maximum of 18 hearts without the two heart medals.
also bokoblins have been around since ww
I thought they were Moblins in WW. Huh, guess I can blame Wind Waker for the stupid name instead of SS.
And I forgot about the other thing.

You can swordfight them and accept they will block a few of your swings. If you vary your swings, they will eventually switch their stance too slowly.
You can stun them and hit them.
You can hold your sword at the ready, watch and wait for them to shift their guard to a more vulnerable stance and then attack.
You can skyward strike them from a distance and kill them with a finishing blow.
Just...impeccable. Phenomenal. Awe-inspiring. To me, it is perfect. My new favorite game, only rivaled by previous Zelda titles.
This is why I play videogames.
