Will I be an outrageous trend-breaker if I don't make a monstrosity in the Third? Fat Carnie Mutant Bosses is sort of a thing after sr2.
The greatest thing about SR2 (and the upcoming SR3) is that we all have the freedom to play how we want. There is no right or wrong, just whatever's personally fun.
Will I be an outrageous trend-breaker if I don't make a monstrosity in the Third? Fat Carnie Mutant Bosses is sort of a thing after sr2.
I played as tat'd up, angry, skinny latina. Hopefully they have decent, non-zombie voices in this one.

I'm thinking I'll create a normal dude for my first story playthrough. Once I complete that, I'll probably become a chick so I can play dress up. Then I'll start a new game creating a monstrosity and using the zombie voice.

The seven voice options from the videos and info:
Male Caucasian - voiced by Troy Baker. The default voice for trailers
Male African American - confirmed by Volition that the voice actor from SR1 and SR2 is back reprising his role
Male Cockney - new voice actor, sounds similar to SR2 cockney
Female Hispanic - sounds like the same actress
Female Caucasian/African American (hard to tell) - New voice actress
Female Russian - Sounds awesome
Zombie

I've become ridiculously attached to my angry black chick. FemVoice 2, I believe. Kind of makes me wish someone would deign to create an actual canon main character of that phenotype. She's kind of all kinds of awesome.

There's a video/sample with the Russian female voice?
In the IGN throwing people video they had a tranny that had the Russian female voice. Very cool sounding.

Just thought of something I wish SR3 would have. I mean, it's not a negative that it doesn't have it because the game has so much already, but I could do with this thing too.
Traffic Cop. No, I don't mean you go around ticketing people. I mean you get set at an intersection directing high-speed traffic and the idea is to cause the worst wrecks ever. For added grins, they could make it have some DDR elements with you busting a move as you wreck dozens of unsuspecting vehicles.
That is a really nice vid... Although speaks a lot for game journalists when the biggest priority is being naked, and staring at slightly exposed 'penii'. Actual journalist comment.

You know what I wish was in SR3, instead of the Zombie voice? Micky Mouse Voice. Think about it.

A Crispin Glover boss voice would be pretty great too.

please don't use the word tranny. it's a pejorative.
this game looks like it'll be a blast.
Your argument would be stronger if this wasn't a game about slapping naked women in the face with giant rubber cocks for lulz. Just about everything in this game is explolative. My language is about the least offensive thing in Saints Row thread.
Just saying.
And yeah, Troy Baker is gonna be my first Boss voice.

"A FUCKING TIGER?"
Sorry, I don't want to turn this into a discussion on bigotry but Antimatter didn't make an argument. Antimatter stated that "tranny" is a pejorative, which it is, and asked you not to use it. You can ignore that, sure, but it wasn't an argument, it was a request. And we're not in Steelport. The characters are, so what they say and think and do is (and should be) different from what we in this thread think and say and do.
edit: And to stay on topic, I think this game will be amazingly good. I think I am actually looking forward to this more than Skyrim and Arkham City combined.
Oh yeah, on the subject of Troy and SR1/SR2 (with major spoilers for both):
I don't remember them following up much with the Troy angle. At the end of SR1, it was revealed that he was an undercover cop the whole time. In SR2, it is eventually revealed that he wasn't involved in setting you up at the end and in fact you can recruit him as a homie (which was kind of bizarre but I guess that's why they did it - for the bizarreness of it). But...that's it? He was an undercover cop and eventually became chief of police. Aside from a few references, I was surprised they didn't make more of it.
I never actually summoned most of the homies, except I abused the shit out of the vehicle delivery homie. I used the Ultor Bear or the UDF Scout in so many diversions.
But other than that, meh. I never really enjoyed having homies following me around.
I tried to find this information in the Short History of Saints Row posted on the first page and Google seems to suggest yes (but never from any real source.) Please forgive my ignorance.
Is this game Steamworks (as in: does it matter where I pre-order from?)
Finally prebought SR3 on Steam. I think I'll go start another run through 2 to kill time (and pimps) until Rowvember 15.

I never used homies until my most recent playthrough when I decided to try them out. I ended up really liking them, cruising around with Jane Valderama and Shaundi just felt right.

It's Steamworks. my buddy got it on THQ's site so that he could get a code for early Initiation Station, and it'll still work with Steam.
USA only sadly. On the UK so can't get it. Might just see if there's a decent deal for the *gulp* retail version. I know tesco had one a while ago along with shopto.net but I feel dirty giving them money when they're being kinda dicks with us Brits. Not only a huge mark up on their own online store but they're also not letting us buy it on Steam itself.

i don't identify myself as a gamer, but i am pretty sure you can't grief NPCs
since you know, the point of griefing is to get people all angry
I am sure you could grief the shit out of your co-op buddy, but the lamespot video doesn't show any co-op
speaking of co-op, is anyone getting this on ps3?

Aside from the radio stations, there really isn't anything new there.

Love it when studios hire good VA talent.

HINT: Increasing pitch and yaw values by 40x their normal values didn't work the way I expected they would.
