I just don't think e and w can usually be safely spammed. One is short range and the other requires blinking up close to deal chip damage with your escape. Both rarely good for spam against decent enemies.
Even if ideally spammed the numbers come up basically a wash against AD in early and mid-game, no?
And I think you'd be unreasonable to disagree that AD Ezreal is much, much better as close games go longer.
I'm not saying "non-viable", just "at best breaks even except for when clearly worse."

I might try hybrid Ez to see what the damage is like.
When I was worse than I am now (I'm not very good, to be honest) I loved playing Ez but I felt like I did fuck all damage. Now I feel like I do decent damage with AD Ez, but... Hybrid is calling to me. HYBRID.

Essence Flux can absolutely be safely spammed. You do not spam Arcane shift. Never. You use it in the same myriad of ways you always would. With cdr and consistently landed Qs you can easily use it more than once a fight though.

Incorrect. Hyrid Ezreal has just as strong an early game and a stronger midgame than Ad Ezreal. He starts to fall off lategame once everyone starts working on resistances, at which point you needed to itemize correctly by either focusing on a damage they aren't building resistances for, or working on penetration.

I would be silly to claim anything is stronger than a glass ranged physical dps endgame build. Yes.
Having seen Talith play his hybrid EZ, I am much more scared of it than plain AD EZ. AD EZ you can run from or easily itemize against. With the Gunblade/Cutlass combo, there is nowhere to hide from hybrid EZ, and his burst is extremely surprising. Teammates laughed when we duo queued, but he ended up with eleven kills at 20 minutes and all 3 outer turrets down.

i treat arcane shift the exact same way i treat rocket jump
escape purposes only unless i'm 100% using it will net me a kill
Good rocket jump usage is basically what makes a good Tristana. I often says people underestimate Twitch's burst ( or they just don't level expunge which for laning is just wrong) but for Tristana? rocket jump + ult + E HURTS LIKE DICK. Its cooldown refreshing on kill/assists just adds another layer of complexity to it - either to just hit and run under the enemy tower, perform some sick jukes or basically do my mental image of "Checkers Tristana" where you rocket jump from champion to champion for a possible pentakill.
Arcane Shift is just not the same and in fact is rather fuckingly tame in comparison.
So, I heard the words "magewick", some sort of AP build for warwick, I assume.
What's Magewick? Sorc Shoes, RoA, Deathcap, Spirit Visage and maybe something for mana or is that too magey?
Again, I beseech thee, ye who are my elders in lol... How I magewick?
Nope that's pretty much it. Dorans ring or two, some CDR, lotsa AP. I like to go Zhonyas and Abyssal on my Magewick and DFG. As long as you are survivable, and your Q hits like a truck, you are doing it right.

I've seen a couple builds like that...
Magewick tends to favor CDR and tankiness over pure damage I think.
I saw a sorc-shoes magewick who built a fast Morello's Evil Tome and then got more standard items like Spirit Visage. Those two plus masteries is easy 40%. I can't recall if he went Wit's End or more AP though. I bet a more pure magewick would build tanky AP items to compliment his insane healing, like the abyssal scepter.
All the builds on Leaguecraft under "magewick" seem really bad, rushing archangels and whatnot.

Yeah. I magewick with things like frozen heart, abyssal, DFG (although not because it's good, because it's hilarious and I build it on anyone I can). The idea is that nothing will damage through your regen unless multiple champs put down overwhelming fire on you.

It just feels gimmicky, worse except for a narrow midgame window where you massacre baddies.
Talith, if you would please explain your build and how you generally play it. It's entirely likely I'm the baddies.
ALL OF THEM

It's not like it's hard to make an item build.
