It's a person who insists on trying to win in unranked games instead of messing around and doing silly things like all AD teams.
Basically "It's not fair you guys beat us, we weren't trying to win so hard."
Also being 100% serious about the above all the time and treating it like it's more important than breathing clean air or drinking pure water.
It really depends on who's calling you a tryhard. If it's the other team, it's closer to what I said, if it's on your team, it's closer to Zoelef's interpretation... Right?
Tryhards in my play group are generally referred to as those who either tier whore, come into a blind pick game with a clearly thought-out team and are using voice chat.
In and of themselves none of those are terrible things, but it doesn't make for a whole lot of fun when you're playing against it.

"Clearly Thought Out Team" and "So who wants to tank, um, we got a jungler? Oh, who's going solo top?" are two different things, right?
You need to think up syngergistic combos to be a tryhard, like Cait+Taric for Stun+Piltover Special+Trap+All the AA in the world, right? Or a bunch of AoE ults. (Sona, Galio, Kennen, Fortune, Jarvan could be hilarious.)

I don't know, most of my games are premades with PA people, and we generally try to have a balanced team going and we voice chat... I mean, I generally go against teams that also communicate well and have balanced teams. it's certainly more fun that way, in my opinion. I mean, I'd rather go against "tryhards" than against people who fight each other at every step and give up at 20.
So this is something I wanted to briefly discuss while its in my head,
Does it feel to anyone else that there is actually 2 types of caster?
I think there there are 2 types of casters in LoL, the AP carry and the Mage.
Mages have longer cooldowns, but they're spells are far more powerful in their own merits, and they tend to scale with level more than gold. Most AP assassins fall into this catagory because their playstyle is explosive by necessity. This catagory includes Brand, Annie, Kassadin.
AP carries have shorter cooldowns and are less explosive than Mages, but have a much higher sustained damage. They scale with gold very well because their damage output is far less limited by cooldowns and generally resource. This catagory includes Cassiopiea, Ryze, and Kennen.

In practice, it's a bunch of people clicking Punish on every case.
I've noticed that any case I clicked Pardon on - even if there was good reason - I did not receive IP from.
Without informing you of which cases you got correctly, it is entirely possible you got IP for those cases and one of the cases you punished got pardoned.
So far I've done about 50 cases, and the few that I pardoned have also been pardoned by the rest of the council as I've gotten IP for every case I've done so far.
I tried Skarner, jungling. I felt pretty useless without my ult.
I think I'll stick with Trundle.
I know they designed him to be a jungler, but his kit is pretty shitty compared to the other junglers. And he's a lesser version Riven in like every way. Instead I've had a lot of luck as sustain bruiser in the lane. He can farm pretty easy, do decent early damage, and heal up with the marks on his E. His ult seems like it could do a little more damage though, I usually only end up using it to snag high damage enemies early in a team fight.

I'd be very surprised if the ones I'd punished had been pardoned by anyone.

That's most likely the case of course, but I'm not discounting the possibility based on people are weird.

Really hope the Tribunal page works on mobile, because I'd love to get some free IP in portable hilarity form during the day.

They're the folk who sort through reports and vote on whether they require punishment. You have to be level 30 before you can work cases.
