Seems like the thing I can do with rifle is hide in a bush and pick off people. Or, plant a bomb, hide in a bush, and pick off people who runs to disarm the bomb.

Well, my point is that you would look away, if one was aimed at you. As this is a video game, and not that bright, they made their effect to be as impairing to vision, instead of hurting your eyes and looking away, you just cant see him.
Right, they're still not that bright during the day.

I'm surprised you've never been to a shoot house or in combat, because the white light is only used when absolutely necessary, otherwise you're using your PEQ-2/PEQ-15 and NODs. The reason you're not going to use a tac light to obscure the enemies vision is because tac lights have the added effect of alerting everyone else to your presence, and ruining your night vision in your firing eye if you're wearing PVS-14's. In the cases that you do use white light instead of NODs, illume shouldn't be so poor that the enemy won't already have a bead on you. I agree that it will make it difficult for the enemy to see you when it's shined in their eyes, but that isn't ever an adequate reason to use it over NODs. Especially since SRM is soo much easier with an IR laser.
Edit: I hate, hate, the fact that when I set my weapon to 3 round burst that it fires 3 rounds after only pressing LMB once.

The m249 is so so shitty. Yes it has a 100 rounds but it takes all 100 of them to kill someone. It's also got the accuracy of a blindfolded man playing darts.

This game gets major props for being like, one of the only shooters I've ever played that gets pump-action shotgun reloading animations down correctly. At least on the 870.
Off-hand reload with shell into ejection port, keeping barrel on-target, and no fucking pumping after loading the last shell. It's amazing.

I didn't need to pour all 100 rounds into an enemy to kill them with the m249. I like it better than the first gun the support gets. Accuracy at long range is problematic though.
Also, I would like to add: The PP2000 with Extended Mags and Laser Sight is a freaking death machine. Holy shit. My performance went from middling to server-topping with this thing. Flank and spank!

the UMP is even better. Like, the UMP might be the best gun I've tried so far. I see a ton of other people running around with it too, and for good reason. You can snipe with that thing and it basically kills instantly up close, makes almost no noise at all either

I've been playing Recon because I never play the sniper role but the mobile spawn point is a good beginning of the match thing to set up.
Edit: Running around shooting people with the SKS+holo+foregrip can be considered Recon.

Just played with a guy called Moose101 who was the stereotypical tough guy on the internet and a massive racist to boot
So my squad all took our tac lights out and blinded him for the whole round
