Doubtful. Origin's store is region locked, so it seems likely the code from a cheaper region won't work in the Australian store (EA does an IP check to prevent you from using stores from other regions). Your best bet would be to use a proxy, as once you've purchased the game, you can use it in any region.
The lethality is probably my favorite aspect of this game so far. It feels like the perfect balance between normal and hardcore on BC2.
I'm really tired of hearing a single gunshot dying and seeing [UMP-45] and seeing that the guy was a fucking ridiculous distance to instagib me with an SMG

So after coming in and complaining earlier about actually connecting on the xbox it decided to let me play like 8 rounds in a row and holy shit did i have a lot of fun.
BF3-wise, I'm running an i5 @ 4GHz and a 6850 and getting 45 fps on high.
Not sure if that helps. I'm fighting the urge to add a second 6850 so I can pimp the ultra mode....I'll likely wait until after release though, because I'm sure DICE and ATI will hone their craft a bit.
That little island in the lake is great for snipers if you have someone to cover your back. I pretty much single handedly wiped out the enemy push on that side of the map and could easily avoid counter-snipers by being prone in the right place.

It certainly is great if you like being shot to pieces by a competent team, yeah, you're absolutely right
Call me an idiot, but how do you actually *apply* changes to the graphics settings? I can swap between Low, Medium, High, Ultra, and Custom. I can hit "apply resolution", I can hit "back" and choose "save".
But none of it seems to do fuck-all to my terrible framerate (15!).
We call it "Faggle Rock." Not because we think less of gays, we have gays among us actually. We've all just conceded that sexuality aside, it's faggy to sit on that island.

I also played a bit more with the bipod to get the hang of it. Used it on the PKP and the M250B. I must say it was a lot of fun sniping with it, killed someone near the rocket launchers from the american bridge on spawn. Tbh i found the PKP to be the most accurate of the two. Can't wait for the M60!
Still for the metro part i think i'm better of with a M249 and grip.
I think I'm finished with the Beta. I don't really care for metro, but the inability to see my ping is driving me nuts. I can clearly shoot a guy in the chest with the 870 only to die to his UMP with no damage indicated on my end. Errrrg, frustrated.

They're equally offensive.
I find the people on the island don't generate enough offense, quite frankly.

BF3 beta requires you to restart/reconnect before it will show graphics changes...that may be what's slowing you down @jdarksun.

I'm with you. It's a great way to waste time...I think of it as a net gain because the lower-IQ people that hang around the island are less likely to be a liability where the action is (read: the bomb points.)
BF1943 looked pretty bad (regenerating health that went very fast, regenerating ammo, three classes, only three maps I think?). I was mainly pissed about it because EA were cockteases about it coming to PC. They strung us along for literally fucking years before silently cancelling it.

Edit: Too much exp needed to unlock the m98b between the last unlock. I have like 43k and no new allkit weapons for four levels. Ugh.

Well their test setup seemed far from scientific, it's better just for comparing the performance differences between cards.
My 6950 generally gets better than 41FPS as well on high in the outdoor areas, so YMMV.

Shit, my dual 6870's get damn near 75 consistently outdoors in Metro, everything on high with a mixture of ultra + AA on.
try getting an aimbotter on your team. it's pretty great
When all your kills are headshots and you're doing better than Carbon/me/Pooh/etc, it gets a bit suspicious.
