I just blue myself: [Arrested Development] actually returning to TV
According to attendees at the sold-out panel — which featured the entire cast of the late cult hit — Hurwitz’s goal would be to produce another nine or 10 episodes, but there’s a twist: Each installment would focus on a different Bluth. Such a move would help alleviate the many scheduling conflicts that would no doubt arise now that much of the cast has moved on to other projects.
And now, the obligatory caveats: Hurwitz acknowledges that, while the creative side is cooperating 100 percent, the stumbling block, as always, comes down to money. “We don’t completely own the property, there are business people involved and studios and that kind of thing,” he said—as he's always said—adding that the expanded project “requires studios to work together that don’t typically work together, film and TV.” And of course, as of right now, there's neither a film studio nor a network attached to either project, meaning Hurwitz has essentially doubled down on his bet that someone cares enough about reviving Arrested Development for its cult fanbase.

Netflix probably has a pretty good idea of the audience for this show, since they can see exactly how many time everyone goes back and rewatches the whole run on Instant.

I feel like it could potentially pan out. Liberal bank was made on Firefly when people took a chance and contributed funds--to a show that appealed to a cult audience. I'm holding a torch for the people who are willing to take that risk.
I like this - I know Netflix has been looking to make some sort of splash with their own original programming for awhile now, to justify their focus on streaming as opposed to rentals. Helping get Arrested Development back on its feet seems like a great step in that direction.
This seems...like...wishful thinking. Until studios etc get on board, this really isnt any different then what theyve always said, except with more of a plan. They can say they want to do this all they like, but until Fox lets them, and someone pays for it, its no good.
Netflix does seem to be the saving grace here though. I can see why theyd like to get on board. Start becoming like a streaming HBO with awesome unique content. But youd still need Fox to let them, correct?
Agreed on the Netflix move, especially with how many subscribers they could hook if only for 2 months to be the first to watch or rewatch.
Also, how would anyone want their show on FOX at this point? Family Guy, Futurama and now Arrested Development all prematurely axed (I'd lobby for King of the Hill, too) and then revived by loyal fan bases.
Personally I was took young/didn't smoke weed when AD made it's initial run.
Now I am older and can appreciate the cerebral humor.

I hope they replace Michael Cera with the dude from The Social Network.

Fuck Michael Cera.
Not only are they not that similar in their style, nor do they even look that similar, but the most common complaint that Cera haters have (the bastards), is that he never quite got out of the role of George Michael.
So, you see, what you're saying, it doesn't make any sense, so yes, Cantido has the right answer

I've never gotten the Michael Cera hate. Certainly not in the context of championing the utterly charisma-free Eisenberg.

Yeah, no.
Although if the plot of the movie does turn out to be
Hollywood makes a movie about the Bluths and casts a bunch of celebrities as the Bluths (except Tobias, who no one wants to portray), it would be amazing if they "cast" Eisenberg as George Michael

Glad they were able to get everyone back on board, but the change in format has me... dubious.
Edit: unless of course its tied with David Cross...
