[Solved]Name of an old B&W sci-fi movie?

Saw this film in ye olde red/blue glasses 3D theaters when I was a kid. Don't remember much of the plot but I know that at one point a regular human dude was talking to the alien (who had the appearance of a human) and the human later noted that he suspected something because the alien was staring directly into the sun while talking to him. Later the alien appears as a floating tentacle/eye thing of some sort I believe? Also at some point rocks fall towards the screen (oooh, 3D!)

Any ideas?
