    Role PMs:

    Village Souls:
    You are a: Soul Enforcer

You have been issued a directive: Find all bound individuals and bring them into custody, dead or alive. You have no misgivings in your task. A great danger lurks in the binding process. For the good of the many, the few that were foolish enough to undertake the dangerous procedure are a necessary sacrifice.

Victory Condition: Eliminate all perceived threats to the community.

    Soul Abilities: Soul Walk

You are a: Veteran Soul Enforcer

You have been issued a directive: Find all bound individuals and bring them into custody, dead or alive. You have no misgivings in your task. A great danger lurks in the binding process. For the good of the many, the few that were foolish enough to undertake the dangerous procedure are a necessary sacrifice. Your veteran training allows you to become accustomed to your new body more quickly. As a result, you do not experience the one-day fatigue normally associated with the Soul Walk.

Victory Condition: Eliminate all perceived threats to the community.

Soul Abilities: Veteran Soul Walk: You may use abilities the first day you inhabit a new body.

You are a: Reckless Soul Enforcer

You have been issued a directive: Find all bound individuals and bring them into custody, dead or alive. You have no misgivings in your task. A great danger lurks in the binding process. For the good of the many, the few that were foolish enough to undertake the dangerous procedure are a necessary sacrifice. Your youth and inexperience causes you to take unnecessary risks. Luckily you are quite talented and this usually works out for you. As a result, your Soul Walk receives priority over the standard ability.

Victory Condition: Eliminate all perceived threats to the community.

Soul Abilities: Enhanced Soul Walk: This ability is successful even if Soul Walk is being used on your target by another player, as long as the target is vacant.

    You are the: Finder

You have been issued a directive: Find all bound individuals and bring them into custody, dead or alive. You have no misgivings in your task. A great danger lurks in the binding process. For the good of the many, the few that were foolish enough to undertake the dangerous procedure are a necessary sacrifice. However, you are not a meaningless grunt in the battle. You have been trained to find fallen comrades. You’ve been trained to help them in their time of need and bring them home safely.

Victory Condition: Eliminate all perceived threats to the community.

    Soul Abilities: Soul Walk

Finder: Each night, you may target one soul (player). If this soul is bodiless, and fails to find a body during the night, they remain in their bodiless state, but are spared from permanent death. In addition, each day, you will be given a list of the bodiless players, and you (and you alone) are allowed to speak to these players (please include me in any PMs to bodiless players). Note that all bodiless players have the Soul Walk ability, and all villagers have Soul Walk. However, one mafia member also has Soul Walk, so being revealed as bodiless does not guarantee that this player is a villager.

    Mafia:
    You are: Locust

A system that sacrifices an innocent few to catch a single threat is not a system you can believe in. Surely, those who decided to permanently bind their souls were foolish, but that was their choice to make. Their innocence holds despite their brashness. You sympathize with their plight and have decided to help them in their fight for survival. Only a few decided to heed your call, but the few you have are a quality bunch. They are: Alfonso Swanson(The Anonymous), Earl Bodin(blahmcblah), Fabian Ha(Bedlam), and Crystal Ortega(Sir Fabulous) . You’ve always said that the best defense is a good offense. It’s time to put that to the test.

Victory Condition: Eliminate any threat to the resistance.

Soul Abilities: Soul Walk. Each night the resistance can eliminate 2 characters (NOT players!). Once in the game, you can instead choose to kill a single player. This kill is blockable as if you had chosen to kill your target’s character.

    You are: Alfonso Swanson

You decided to undergo the binding process after an eternity of ennui caught up with you. You needed a change. You needed to feel, whatever that meant. You’ve been in your body so long that you actually think of yourself as this person, and not the angel you once were. When you received the call to return, you knew something wasn’t right. After hearing Locust’s warning, you never hesitated to contact her. You joined her resistance and have been successful in evading capture. However, the crackdown has begun in earnest. It’s time to take the fight to the enemy. Only by destroying them can you ensure your safety. Your resistance is small but effective, it consists of Alfonso Swanson(The Anonymous), Earl Bodin(blahmcblah), Fabian Ha(Bedlam),Crystal Ortega(Sir Fabulous), and Locust(Alegis).

Soul Abilities: Each night the resistance can eliminate 2 characters (NOT players!). Once in the game, you can instead choose to kill a single player. This kill is blockable as if you had chosen to kill your target’s character.

    You are: Earl Bodin

You decided to undergo the binding process after an eternity of ennui caught up with you. You needed a change. You needed to feel, whatever that meant. You’ve been in your body so long that you actually think of yourself as this person, and not the angel you once were. When you received the call to return, you knew something wasn’t right. Your resistance is small but effective, it consists of Alfonso Swanson(The Anonymous), Earl Bodin(blahmcblah), Fabian Ha(Bedlam),Crystal Ortega(Sir Fabulous), and Locust(Alegis).

Before you arrived, Earl was an interesting fellow. Huge fan of the Occult. A little too obsessed with Twilight. You know the type. He also happened to be quite brilliant. He invented a device that allows you to discover a person’s soul frequency – a unique identifier, like a fingerprint. While the village will not rest until all bounded souls are captured, there is one in particular that caused the entire controversy to begin with, and he’s as great a threat to you as he is to them. You instinctively calibrated the device to search for this individual, before you could consciously identify it.

Abilities: Each night you may target one character (NOT player!). You will be informed if this character is possessed by Baal.

Soul Abilities: Each night the resistance can eliminate 2 characters (NOT players!). Once in the game, you can instead choose to kill a single player. This kill is blockable as if you had chosen to kill your target’s character.

Fabian was a socialite. The lifestyle appealed to you – that’s why you chose him in the first place. But now his connections are even more important than ever. You know everything about everyone. News travels fast and you’re at the center of it.

Abilities: Each day, you will receive a list of characters who were vacant the previous day.

Soul Abilities: Each night the resistance can eliminate 2 characters (NOT players!). Once in the game, you can instead choose to kill a single player. This kill is blockable as if you had chosen to kill your target’s character.

    Serial Killer:
You are: Ba’al Hammon, God of Carnage

After your exile following the War of Ecclesiastes, you became docile and… well, quite frankly, lazy. All the killing just wasn’t worth it anymore. Your father would be ashamed, Ba’al rest his soul. After millennia of solitude, the Exile Regulatory Board decided that you should be given a chance to prove your repentance, and gave you the option of remaining in isolation or become a test subject for the new soul-binding procedure. You didn’t repent. Not even a little bit. But anything is better than playing Solitaire for the 265,327,145,230th time. That shit gets old. A God can only take so much before He goes crazy. Besides, this might provide the opportunity to escape that you’ve so long desired.
You are permanently bound to: Nathan Alligood
Your body feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it. Living the remainder of this poor sap’s life is not your idea of a good time. You need to get out of this body. Unfortunately there’s only one way to do that…

Victory Condition 1/2: Die, and see what happens.

After dying, SeGaTai received this message:

Death was… thrilling. It brings back memories. Memories of power and chaos. Though you are not as strong as you once were. Your soul lacks energy, and consuming the bodies of nearby humans is as good a way as any to reclaim it. Though be careful, your soul is not strong enough to withstand another death.

The players in this game think that you are dead, but you are very much a presence. If you desire, you can post in the thread, send PMs, or vote, though declining to do so will not go against your activity requirement - your new activity requirement is to use your Soul Purge ability. If you wish, you may post a message in the narration (send me a PM by the deadline). However, after your first kill, the players will undoubtedly realize that you are still in this game. You cannot be eliminated by voting out your forum name; only a successful kill on your current body will eliminate you from play. You currently possess the closest bystander to the incident. This person is not on the character list and their death will not be mentioned.

Victory Condition 2/2: See the death of all remaining characters in the game.

Soul Abilities: Soul Purge - Each night you must target a character (not Player) and possess their body. There is no way to block this ability. Any player currently possessing that body will be evicted. Any body you leave will be drained of power and die. This falls under “Other Soul Abilities” for order of actions and other mechanical issues. This does not prohibit you from using character abilities.

    Unbound Characters:
    You currently control: Marie Tracy

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Elbert Bright

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Raul Tanaka

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Reginald Calvo

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Marjorie Zamora

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Julius Smalls

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Frederick Beatty

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Robert Patterson

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Ethel Cooper

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Mary Boles

This was a lucky find. Mary is well-tuned to the binding frequency. If she can get close enough, she can determine whether its consciousness is bound or not, and what soul is currently possessing them.

Abilities: Each night, you may target another character (NOT player!) and determine the possessing player, and whether their soul is bound or roaming. Bound souls (those without Soul Walk) are threats to the village. One mafia member has the Soul Walk ability, this effectively makes them a thrall (but not a death thrall). You have been warned.

    You currently control: Kathy Kleinschmidt

Kathy is a German gymnast. Perfect for getting to excellent vantage points and killing unsuspecting targets. Yes, this body will do quite nicely…

Abilities: Each night, you may target another character (NOT player!). Barring interference of some kind, this character will die.

    You currently control: Ruben Kowalski

Well, the body isn’t much use, but the family connection could be. You can tell when other souls travel into your wife, Lee Jennings (occupant) or your adopted daughter, Barbara Sproles ((occupant). All bound souls are threats to the village. However, one member of the mafia has the Soul Walk ability. You will not be able to tell if the person entering the family is this mafia member or a villager.

    You currently control: Lee Jennings

Well, the body isn’t much use, but the family connection could be. You can tell when other souls travel into your husband, Ruben Kowalski (occupant) or your adopted daughter, Barbara Sproles ((occupant). All bound souls are threats to the village. However, one member of the mafia has the Soul Walk ability. You will not be able to tell if the person entering the family is this mafia member or a villager.

    You currently control: Barbara Sproles

Well, the body isn’t much use, but the family connection could be. You can tell when other souls travel into your adopted parents, Ruben Kowalski (occupant) or Lee Jennings (occupant). All bound souls are threats to the village. However, one member of the mafia has the Soul Walk ability. You will not be able to tell if the person entering the family is this mafia member or a villager.

    You currently control: Calvin Green

A hypnotist? Are you serious? That’s the lamest story for a 2-way busdriver I’ve ever heard. LAAAAAME.

But seriously, that’s what you are. A hypnotist. Have fun messing around with that.

Abilities: Each night you may choose two characters (NOT players!). Anyone that tries to target one of these characters will instead target the other. You cannot use this ability on Calvin Green.

    You currently control: Odell Buckley

You are the local sheriff. A convenient position. Your influence will let you lock up anyone you see fit, for a night. Though putting yourself in the cage might not be the wisest move. People might start to think you’re crazy…

Abilities: Each night, you may target one character (NOT player!). This character will not be able to use any abilities, but they also cannot be targeted. You cannot use this ability on Odell Buckley.

    You currently control: Ryan Jones

Ryan is an interesting fellow. Huge fan of the Occult. A little too obsessed with Twilight. You know the type. He also happened to be quite brilliant. He invented a device that allows you to discover a person’s soul frequency – a unique identifier, like a fingerprint. While all bounded souls need to be captured, there is one in particular that caused the entire controversy to begin with. You instinctively calibrated the device to search for this individual, before you could consciously identify it. Right now it’s set to identify, though there is another setting…

Abilities: Each night you may target one character (NOT player!). You will be informed if this character is possessed by Baal.
Alternatively, you may kill a character that has been identified by your device (previously targeted). This kill is unblockable. Unfortunately this setting is unstable, and using it will disable the device for the remainder of the game.

    You currently control: Paul Harris

Paul is Batman. Well, ok, he’s not actually Batman, but he does like to pretend. While his mind is a bit crazy, that is irrelevant now; you are in control. Fortunately all his messing around has actually left you with a better than average body to play with. Perfect for getting to excellent vantage points and killing unsuspecting targets. Yes, this body will do quite nicely…

Abilities: Each night, you may target another character (NOT player!). Barring interference of some kind, this character will die.

    You currently control: Christina Pierce

Christina works in the local hospital’s emergency department. It’s the best of its kind. If you can get someone here in time, they are sure to be saved from any permanent damage.

Abilities: Each night, you may target another character (NOT player!). Barring interference of some kind, this character will be saved from any and all attempts to kill them. You will be notified if your ability prevents your target’s death. You cannot use this ability on Christina Pierce.

    You currently control: Dale Allen

Dale is a… less than reputable sort of guy. But no, it’s not what you’re thinking. Oh, you were thinking he was a gigolo? OK, then it’s exactly what you’re thinking.
But honestly, he’s the best gigolo in New South Wales. He can make people… forget that they even cared about something else.

    Seriously, he’s really good.

Abilities: Each night, you may target another character (NOT player!). Barring interference of some kind, this character will be unable to perform their abilities that night.

    You currently control: Charles Gast

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Wayne Anderson

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Claudia Ramirez

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Michael Chavis

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

    You currently control: Linda Bolton

The body you have possessed feels stiff, and old. You find no use in it.

Very sad I finally got to be a SK and didn't get a single kill, figured that messed with the balance a little. Couldn't believe that on day 5 or 6, whichever it was, the village randomly decides to vote out a character because they couldn't think of a single person that was looking suspicious. Would have posted some fake leads that night but was busy unfortuanetly. Good game otherwise-thanks MrTlicious

So I think the soul walk mechanic was a bit underutilized. It was meant to be a way for the village to organize but that never really worked. I think it just ended up taking too much coordination to be that successful. Without that mechanic, the mafia were really quite overpowered, but luckily for the village the mafia had a string of really really bad luck (starting with the death of blahmcblah) which brought it back into balance. Really down the wire, and even then, who knows what Shiny would have done if he were around today...

Edit: ^ That's what he would have done!

Uhm, if he wasn't sure which of you was mafia, the only way to ensure a village victory would be to eliminate both of you, which is what happened.

And it may not have been intentional, but it was still a great ending.

Good game! Halfway through my role PM I decided I was going to lock myself up that night since it would be hilarious. I was a bit bummed when I realized I couldn't... Anyways. Damned good organization skills, Shiny. You weren't right about me, but the logic was solid. Also, shortly after Anonymous and Kime voted for each other I realized Shiny could just let it play out.
Great ending, however it came about.

That's pretty unlucky. I couldn't even busdrive myself.
Just about all our kills were random other than Langly and Shiny telling taya a few names.

And we came very close to winning! Ultimately I think we just made too many mistakes. But was also really suprised that T_A was able to hang in there so long.

All in all a good game. Congrats to Mr D for his network plan and shiny for executing it well.

I knew Kime had moved bodies which is why I would have gone for T_A if my vote had actually gone through.

The reason I don't think that abstaining like that is fair is because if the host allows it, then it's a no-win situation for the mafia - and in that case, the host should call the game rather than letting it go another day.

Oh but don't worry, I'm not bitter. I'm just grudging you for a long, long time.

This assumes that there's no way that kime would vote for Shiny. That was probably true here but in general a 3-person game could involve the mafia convincing either party that the other was bad.

Yeah he dropped out mostly due to guilt. Basically the biggest lesson that could be learned from the mafia is that if you have a proboard with a playerlist be sure to update it and then double and triple check to make sure you updated correctly. And double check everything before putting in orders.

I tried to kill Linda twice after she had already died (because I thought she was guarded the first time and the guard would be switched after a day or two)

I'm not sure that it was that stacked. The body system should have given the village a lot more leeway than it ultimately did, and the SK was more likely to kill a mafia than a villager, especially since Phyphor (the finder) lived so long, because it would merely evict a villager, while the mafia would insta-die.

    Also, the deal with Capfalcon:

For some reason he chose to soul walk to the vote target that night. It ended up not mattering because the mafia killed his current body, but that was a weird play and I have no idea why he did that.

I wouldnt say it was stacked. We had two guys with no powers, two guys with seer type powers, and one guy who started vanilla but could soul walk (which didnt work until Taya got the roleblocker and died soon after)

We couldnt soul walk so we had to do a lot of lying to save ourselves, on the other hand there was no alignment seer. And we got two kills a day but no real way of knowing who was who.

I think it was fairly balanced, Mr T. The soul walking was a way to just utterly doom the mafia, so they needed power to counter that. And any time a game gets this close, thats a good sign haha.

I like the way the last day played out . Oh so clever (not really since it was an accident) of Shiny.

Speaking of which, Shiny, good job as network head. You did very well.

The Soul Walk mechanic and powers being bound to characters instead of players is a really good idea. I really hope this gets expanded on in a later game!

Yeah, even without the serial killer getting any kills, this was an extraordinarily slow low kill game, which favors the village. Heck, it would have been extraordinarily long even if it was a main

Your plan was the kind of thing I wanted to have happen - vanillagers confirming each other by switching bodies. The fact that no one did that actually handicapped you pretty badly, and only by shear luck and failure to check orders did the village scrape by with a win.
