We've been hitting Firelands every week since it opened, and I'm still stuck with Tier 11 tank shoulders and a helmet. What again was their reasoning for not letting you use valor for two slots? If it was that you had to raid to get shoulders and helmet, I am raiding. I'm raiding a lot.
Enjoy 4.3 when none of the tier pieces come from valor. Also, still no shoulders, I think, on the valor vendor.
Yep, no shoulders or pants I think, though there are some craftable pants. Fucked for shoulders though. Hopefully they'll come (back) to their senses in MoP and make all slots purchaseable again.
So unless I'm missing something with the loot table on mmo champion, there isn't a clearcut one handed tanking weapon that has dodge or parry on it in T13. The closest I can see is the one that has a built in lifestealing effect and the next closest uses crit/mastery.
Ew you are correct. And unless Souldrinker drinks almost ever hit then I'll likely use either my 391 sword or the 410 Morchok Axe, which is alright by me because I love Tanking with an Axe.

So, my toon is about hit 85 (Rogue). Someone want to tell me about the approach I should take with Firelands dailies? I'm well acquainted with the game, but the last time I quit playing was before Firelands hit. Thanks!

Assuming a health pool of 190k (lowballing) and a proc of 1.7%, I believe it would steal 3.2k on a hit which is...okay. Will definitely need to see the proc rate before I make a final judgment but I'm already going to be CTC capped going into 4.3 so the Mastery on the axe just isn't that exciting.

For speed I open them in the order of Wardens/Druids of the Talon (do their dailies once to open up the Anren daily, then do Wardens only unless you are really after achievements)/Ancients/Armory/Moonwell.

If you value your sanity and fun in playing WoW, then my advice would be to do the prequests and do the first day which unlocks the first vendor (right when you go into the Firelands) and then just stop.
And RE: loot table: People are also bitching about the tank trinkets. Mastery proc is kinda dumb (when people are CTC capped anyway) and with the state of tank hit and expertise a stacking buff that needs the tank to hit every 10s is also not that great.

I disagree with this. The Firelands dailies only take like 3 weeks to finish, and they are a great way to gear up a character. They were way more interesting than any other daily hub they've ever put in the game.
I did like the one trinket that's stam and procs a damage absorb, but I think I'm going to end up keeping one of my FL trinkets in the other slot.

The problem with the absorb proc is that it procs at 50% health. That's not really that desperate and then it's on CD for 60s. Most of those trinkets proc at 35% which makes more sense for me. But yes, this at least seems better than the other two (for block tanks).
Re: Firelands dailies: Then it's possible that I just can't stomach dailies anymore. I got bored on the third day or so and quit.

Yeah, considering the patch is supposed to hit in less than two weeks, there's less of a need to do the dailies unless you need the gold.

I'm not too worried about Tank gear, as long as I can stay CTC capped I am confident I can Tank anything in the game. I'll likely Prioritize Stamina in 4.3 while maintaining 102.4% CTC
Well Tuesday I got my shadow fire birdy achieve. And yesterday my guild finished its legendary so I gots me a little dragon companion now too. Good week for the visual achieves.
Edit: awesome buddies I'm at 94% or so. Tanky drops are limited for us. For instance we have only seen the heroic bracers off of domo once. And I've only seen two of those upgrade stones drop.

Well, whether or not it's good, the life stealing one is obviously "the tank weapon", since SMF Wars/frost DKs aren't going to want to use it.
Granted, it should really wait until MoP at this point instead of a mid-expansion patch, but Blizzard should have just gotten rid of the concept of one handed tanking weapons at the start of Cataclysm.
This is what I have to deal with and people wonder why we can't progress. These people have almost the exact same gear and their parses are that different.
It was my understanding that they shortened it considerably after the first week or so. The first phase used to take a week, but now you get it all on the first day.
I swear someone mathed it all out here after they changed the numbers and it was still something like four weeks.
It's definitely more than three weeks. It takes 10 days just to unlock the first of Wardens/Druids since you get 14 marks/day at that point and need 150 for the unlock. After that it's 7 or 8 to unlock the other one since you're getting like 20 or 21 per day. So it's close to 3 weeks already before you've even enabled the quests for the three 125 mark turnins.
Edit: You quoted the wrong person, Samphis.

The DS loot is indeed strange, even at the heroic level. The druid tier helm is not good for tanking, but there is no heroic level off tier leather helm, unless they are going to put in a version of Crystallized Firestone that applies to the vendor one. The cloak and neck are so bad that I'm going to have to PVP unless heroic Rhyolith and Rag give up the goods between then and now. The trinket off H Rag will likely be BiS in DS as well. It's all very irritating, and I hope they at least fix the helm/neck/cloak issues before they release it.
The problem they have in adding new tank trinkets is just made worse by the fact that many tanks still refuse to give up their Mirror from TB.
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.
Of course they refuse to give it up. It's ridiculously powerful. Mastery is the best stat for Paladins by a mile and a half, and the on use of the mirror is very powerful in any fight that has any magic damage it can mitigate.

I just got back into raiding and my group has been doing Firelands for 3 weeks now. I got the tank helm off Baleroc last night. =P

I've been thinking about it, and I'm pretty sure this sword will cause drama in the LFR tool.
All due to this simple sentence: "I need it for PVP"

I almost forgot. I'm terrible with macros. Can someone whip me up one that combines Auto-Attack, Mutilate, and the Synapse Springs in my gloves slot? I need something so that my toon doesn't just stand and stare while waiting for energy for mutilate when switching targets and that keeps my Springs going whenever they're up.

I could definately replace my TB Trinket in 4.3. If I get a Heroic Spindle, I will use that over the Mirror in Dragonsoul. I think it would only be helpful on Yor'shaj.

Yeah, I never got why my account macros can scroll down and yet my character macros are so limited.

Yeah I have been running into that a lot - you really don't get many macros, compounded by the fact they are shared by all characters. Very annoying, especially since I've been starting to set up some for my alts now.
I've maxed out macros on both my DK and my druid. People not playing multiple specs probably get by fine with 18, but there just aren't enough for me.
I get the feeling if anyone ever asked about more macro slots, we'd get an answer similar to when people ask about more character slots, bank slots, etc. that increasing it would totally fuck up the database and whatnot.

It depends a lot on how they implemented them in the database. The problem with bag slots is that they store quite a bit of data per item (enchants, durability, etc). My guess is that each bag slot is a new database row, which multiplied by ~11 million players times whatever the average number of characters per account is (keeping in mind you can roll up to 50 total), is pretty damn huge (and there are likely rows/whatever for each potential slot, regardless of whether you actually have the best bags possible). The reason void storage works is all they have to store is a character id and item id. That's pretty small in comparison.
I imagine macros are just a single string per macro. Strings are probably a little more costly than numbers, but it's probably less data overall than adding bag slots or whatever. So it probably depends on if their databases can handle it. It may also not be a size concern but a speed one - the more rows/columns you add, the slower the queries will be. At some point you're going to hit an unacceptable number.
That's implied generically in "fuck up." Too expensive (heh), technical problems, the usual "sorry, can't do that" reasons. I'm sure that's what the response would be, but it still disappoints me that it's never come up in any Q&A.
