Hello SE++!
Just a few questions for you guys today...
What is a feature or thing you want in an RPG that you've never seen in one?
OR
If there is a feature or thing you want in an RPG, but its not done right, how can it be fixed?
AND
What features do you like about certain RPGs?
I for one sometimes wonder why they never offer bulk discounts for potions I buy
at mom and pop item stores.
I love evolving weapons. I want there to be no upper limit on how much I can improve a weapon's power, if I'm willing to spend money/time on it

Hookers, blow, and killing shop owners and taking their items to help save the entire fucking world instead of farming wolves and shit for gold. Stop trying to turn a profit on my destiny of stopping the evil wizard from spirit raping the universe.
I want rpgs to not pussy out and make it so that if you make choices they stick and there's stuff you genuinely cant get to or see. Too many say they're going to do that and have a way for you to switch alignments or reverse your earlier choices right before a critical scene so that what you did before doesn't matter. I know developers don't want to keep people away from parts of their game in case they only play it once but I wouldn't mind playing a game two or three times to see truly divergent paths.

I want a totally customizable party
I want to choose their class, their skills, their appearance
mostly I want to choose their personalities and have dialogue change based on it
I want scenes to be totally different depending on if my warrior is,say, gruff, as opposed to if I chose chivalrous
I want an RPG that incorporates an intricate but sensible system for giving Hunter wedgies.

I want an RPG that has an awareness of you going into other people's homes or through their belongings and taking items. Both in the narrative and in the gameplay itself.
I love evolving weapons. I want there to be no upper limit on how much I can improve a weapon's power, if I'm willing to spend money/time on it
I love evolving weapons, too, but I enjoy having an upper limit on it.
I also like when stuff actually changes in appearance (weapons, costumes, etc)
Question for both of you.
Say you upgrade your parties weapons to the almost maximum and
You need only ONE more material to make it the max.
But there is only ONE material of that thing in the game.
You can preview the stats of the weapon before you craft it
so you know whos getting the best deal, but you can only
craft ONE maximum weapon of that type.
Does this frustrate you or make you feel like your choices have weight?
What if there were many materials in the game to make your weapons
the highest it could go, but only one material each so everyone has to get a different
maximum weapon. good or bad?

I just want old school turn based gameplay out of my RPG's. Lost Odyssey is the best JRPG of this generation by a mile because it feels so deliciously old school.
I also want the following in every game
1. A set number of crystals that control the elements that are usually stolen by the bad guy
2. Magical Twins
3. Reluctant hero usually a kid or some other nobody at the beginning of the story
4. Banishment from my home town for unleashing monsters through a seemingly innocuous act
5. Some sort of ridiculous prophecy involving dragons
6. recurring boss that is nothing but comic relief
7. Engineer named Cid

when I was a kid I played Thousand Arms
which was part RPG part dating sim
and you could use the girls that like you the most to forge your weapons stronger
weird game
disappointing ending too
crafting is always really fun in games for me, though, which is part of why Skyrim excites me

I forgot one important thing. Songs with kickass whistling in them.

This is not the first time that this has been mentioned.
Interestingly enough, Alot of people consider the music of an RPG to be almost secondary to story.

if I can't kill someone and take all their shit, there better be a really good reason for it (a la Gun Runners in New Vegas)
I want to choose their class, their skills, their appearance

that's what I want
Keep em coming.
Make it one of those Japanese dating hentai games, but with the opposite goal.
also, if I'm destined to "lose" a fight as part of the narrative, let me actually fight the fight and lose it, even if you have to overwhelm me
don't just have me "surrender," or at least don't make that mandatory
What is the opposite of sex? Sitting alone watching My Girl and eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's?
I want this but without the last part

How do you suppose that should happen? Just throw wave after wave of enemies at you or make the enemy get stronger as time passes?
don't take things out of my hands to move the plot in the direction you want if making decisions is an important aspect of your game
I love evolving weapons, too, but I enjoy having an upper limit on it.
